Grit - strength of character _ Everyone at some point in their life deals with depression and anxiety. For most it lasts a few weeks at a time and fades away, for others itโ€™s always there. I use to believe that depression and anxiety were weakness. _ Depression set in for me when I was 17. I woke up everyday expecting to feel better. After all thatโ€™s how it always was.. I might have a bad day then I would go to sleep and when I woke up it was a new day. Iโ€™d feel great. There came a point when that didnโ€™t happen anymore. Before I even opened my eyes I could feel it. I cried my eyes out for 4 months thinking something was seriously wrong with me. I looked for help but I went to the medical clinic thinking they could help. I just kept getting meds thrown in my face that made me not feel... thatโ€™s worse than depression. _ It was bad enough that I came close to developing a stomach ulcer and I couldnโ€™t drink alcohol or caffeine. Eventually, I started to exercise which took the edge off enough that I could slowly start to function in my day to day again. Fitness saved my life. _ To this day, 13 years later, I still struggle with it. I think for some people it never truly goes away. We learn how to control it and how to deal with it when it hits. Sometimes itโ€™s months at a time and sometimes itโ€™s just a few days. _ I truly believe fitness saved my life and my purpose is to empower others who deal with similar struggles so they can live their best life. My mind holds me back more than I would like to admit but what keeps me going are my family and the people I am able to help. I donโ€™t have a flashy program or a flashy car to prove my success but I do promise to be here for you. In the end, thatโ€™s what matters most. I know a lot of you influencers are exercising your wallets and it shows but are you exercising your body as well ? ๐Ÿค” My wife and I had a personal goal this year to be more active not only for us but for our kids and our business. We tried working out alone, we tried working out in groups it wasnโ€™t until we found something that had some sort of structure that forced us to be more consistent. #brazilianjujitsu kicked our ass the first couple of class but I think we are getting used to it. The only down side is getting your ass handed to you by your wife in front of the class lol ๐Ÿ˜’ but I let her win..
