Not gonna lie, I was #impressed with myself today at the #gym !! I am on week 2 day 1 back after my #abdominal #surgery and I did 3 #ab #routines ....very slowly. I even did weighted #squats on the #smithmachine .....of course low weight, but I was going #low to the floor. I even did #sidelunges and #curtsylunges !!!! I told the trainer at the gym and he reminded me to not sprint....lol! Leg day one superset at a time 🤘🏼 ... First video: curtsy lunges 💃🏻 - works your quads and adductors - keep it as low as you can, and put most of weight on the front leg - works tha booty (honestly if that’s your goal, do every variation of lunges that you can find) - can be done with kettle bells, dumbbells, resistance bands, etc ... Second video: good mornings 🌞 - works your hamstrings, booty, and lower back - KEEP YOUR BACK STRAIGHT - keep a slight bend in your knees and move at your hips - I don’t ever do a ton of weight, and if you haven’t perfected a regular RDL then I don’t recommend trying these jussst yet ... ... Crusty lunges are one of my favourite exercises to do on leg day. Not only do they target your glutes, but they also work your hamstrings, calves and back! Nothing beats single leg exercises as they helps even out those tough imbalances! For more of a challenge, (I’m going easy here as I still am recovering from tearing my quad a few weeks ago) I do a little pulse between each rep. EXERCISE SPOTLIGHT: CURTSY LUNGE Muscles worked: Glutes, Quads Calves and Core. How many of you incorporate curtsy lunges into your workouts? It nearly always makes it into my workouts and is one of my favourite exercises. Here’s why. A fantastic alternative to the regular lunges, curtsy lunges really hit your Gluteus Medius muscle, this is the smaller butt muscle located on the outer and upper part of your bottom! It is often undertrained or overlooked completely! By properly activating and strengthening this muscle you will stabilise the hip during movement and maintain the knee in a more stable position – which is great for runners and if like me, you are hypermobile, you need all the support you can get!! This is a great glute activation exercise which you do before any strenuous exercise to really fire up your glutes and get them working properly!! Did legs and core today! I’m tired. I actually love this leg workout 😊 Especially because I am doing curtsy lunges, that is the secret to an awesome 🍑 The curtsy lunges works out the glute medius. It’s responsible for pulling your legs away from the midline of your body. This leg workout will also strengthens your abductors and adductors. I love it because it involves balance, it takes a strong core and precision 💪🏽 I remember telling my trainer, @thegaingiver how much I envied @kathy_drayton for her legs!! He said I just need to get to squatting 200 lbs and I can get legs like hers in no time. That was a year ago! Here I am squatting 225 lbs without a problem. Now I really need to focus on getting this diet right so I can get on her level 🙊 shoutout to @leveledupfitness @jalvies10 and fitness kweens 👑 like Kathy for keeping me motivated!! I also looked up rules and regulations for power lifting, don’t think it will be my cup of tea. Primarily because I worry about the whole “ass to grass” concept. I don’t go lower than my knees when I squat because I love myself 😂🤣 I also don’t dead lift off the ground because I like my spine the way it is 🤷🏻‍♀️ but what evs, you do you fam!! I’m very particular - more like OCD, about my form. It’s funny. SIDE BOOTY🍑 ⠀ 1️⃣Banded Abduction Pulses 3x30 Using a 60lb resistance band here and the burn was insane. 2️⃣Banded Side Lunge 3x15 each side I like to do these on a row machine bc it helps me work on my balance but they are still effective without one. This band is 45lbs. 3️⃣Reverse Lunge to Curtsy Lunge 3x20 I do 10 on each leg for each set. 4️⃣Abductions 3x15 These are a staple exercise for building the booty/side booty. I try to do as much weight as possible. I’m doing around 240lbs here. ⠀ I use @thexbands booty bands at some point during every lower body workout and I highly recommend them. Their quality is amazing and they make every exercise more intense🔥🙌🏼

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT feel like your less a person because you require a bit of support or modifications on exercises!!!! . Today my knee snapped during my curtsy lunges, and not my bad knee either. So I used my bar for added support! There’s no shame in that! Better to take precautions than end up hurting yourself more! . Modifications are there for your safety! It’s not a sign of weakness!! There are modifications for a reason!
