You’ll need two same-sized boxes or benches to perform this exercise. Set them up a torso-length apart from one another so you can put your feet on one and your hand on the other. - To perform the exercise, get your knees to about 90 degrees and your shoulder stacked over your wrist. From there, grab a kettlebell or dumbbell and row toward your hip for the desired amount of reps. Aim to keep your belly button facing the floor (don’t rotate) and your hips still in order to optimize the core-training effect! - We hope you like this one! All I want this year is a very strong core to do the human flag. I'm working a lot on upper body strength. Hanging knee ups with 4kg ankle weight. Way better than Reverse Crunches! ——————- TRX Mountain Climber . The WHY: . This one is harder than most variations of core exercises that use lots of active hip flexion (aka pulling knees up) such as knee raises, reverse crunches, bicycle crunches and comparable to Roman chair knee raises for the core (but not the Hip flexors because of the direction of gravitational pull). It also still doesn’t top a Hanging Knee Raise from the Pull-up bar, which is one of the most challenging in terms of flexion-based core exercises. Regardless, this is a great option to those looking for a CHANGE! . —————- The WHAT: . Most of the challenge is in your core, with additional challenge in your shoulders and upper back. . ————— The HOW: . 1) Put your feet in the foot cradles of a TRX trainer. 2) Take a straight-arm plank aka top push-up position. 3) Pull one knee towards your chest, keeping equal pressure in the straightened leg, while preventing your hips from dropping or twisting. She does a great job of explaining just why this an move is so darn cool! She is always reminding me about how much our body and brain thrive off of diversity in our movements. Start in a plank on a slippery surface with either a blanket under each foot or socks on. Keep your shoulders stacked over your wrists. Shoulder blades spread and belly button pulled in. Keep your hips in line with your shoulders. Think about keeping the rest of the body completely still as your legs do their thang! ☝️😏🕺 . . For an extra challenge be on the top of the foot with toes pointed. Then start by externally rotating from the hip joint (turning the leg out at the hip) and sweeping it forward and then back again, then switch. Do not allow the shoulder to dip and sway, keep them solid without collapsing them as you bring the leg forward. Shoulders square and facing forward. . . 2: Down Dog Wrist Taps: These are great for building compression. They are also hard AF. Thanks @diceyoga for showing these to me a long, long time ago, I’ve been in love with them ever since. . . Start in down dog. Slide your right foot to your right wrist. Keep your foot flat, quad engaged and knee cap lifted. Resist the shoulders back as you bring your leg forward. Think about this movement as coming from deep within your core. It is as if you are sucking the thighbone deep into your hip socket FIRST before sliding it forward. This is key 🔑! Draw the right leg back and then slide it under and across to the right wrist. This is a HUGE challenge, but do your best to keep your foot completely down and your leg straight and engaged! My bent a little, so don’t worry 😉 just do your best! Good luck! Starting my postpartum fitness journey all over again. It’s about 4.5 months since Jake was born and I’m 6kgs more than my pre-pregnant weight but I’m not so worried about that (I don’t even own scales, just check at my parents house occasionally). I’m way more annoyed with how weak I am. After two pregnancies within two years I’ve never felt so weak in all of my life. (We’re talking hanging the clothes on the line is an upper body workout 😬). Starting back with some quick and easy home workouts and hopefully with a little consistency I’ll see some progress soon 💪

After that, add some variations to get more bang-for-your-buck. - Here are some great plank variations that challenge core strength and stability: - ✅ Add a reach but don't let your hips rotate 😳 ✅ Add a leg lift- squeeze the glute to raise a leg just a little 🍑 ✅ Add a slide-use furniture movers, gliders or even a foam roller and slide back until your elbows are in front of your shoulders. Keep your hips level 🤔 ✅ Change height-go from your elbows to your hands without moving your hips (Darn those hips ! ) 😩 ✅ Add length -walk your arms out so your elbows are on in front of your shoulders 💪🏻 ✅ Get on your side-keep those hips high😩. - 🔹Give a couple of these variations a try. It’s the Digital/Information Age whether we like it or not. 🤷🏻‍♀️ If you’re tired of generic programs, it’s time to step your mf’ing game up! My training programs are VERY much like picking my brain and training with me in person. It has a step-by-step format so it’s easy to follow along. I included tips and tricks from years of training clients. They come with VISUAL as well as VERBAL cues so you won’t feel lost. 📌 This is just an example of how I cue my clients: Palloff Press. (One of my personal favorite core exercises, using a resistance band, but a cable station is the common equipment used.) CUES: Take an athletic stance: bent knees, feet wider-than shoulder width apart. Keep the chest up, brace abs, shoulder blades pulled down and back. Start hands at the sternum and push forward, straighten arms, holding for 1-2 seconds and return to start. 📌 My programs are made from scratch and NOT inexpensive for a reason: they’re not 💩. My clients agree and they’ve bought other programs from different “fitspos.” 📌 If you’re interested in any program I have, yet still on the fence, DM me and I’ll be happy ask questions before you purchase it. I’d rather have you as an informed consumer. 🤓
