This week we are experiencing another below freezing day as another wave of polar vortex descends upon the ultisols. Soon the state will be blanketed in ice and snow. Most folks in this town have already resigned to the hermitage. The faint smell of firewoods permeate the country side, and smoke from the chimneys melt with the thin icy mist all around us. My poor camera was almost too cold to function. (Next time I’ll bring the fully mechanical OM-1 or the FM) The shutter struggled to drag itself across the frame. The negatives were brittle too; one must be careful when advancing frames as to not break it. As the battery slowly drained in the freezing flurry, fresh animal’s tracks can still be found. Not everyone is ready for the night yet.
