|The Battle of the Bulge| was the last major German offensive on the Western Front during World War II. It lasted from (Dec. 1944 - Jan. 1945). Most of the battle took place in the dense forested regions of Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. The German plan was to encircle and destroy the four Allies: United States, France, England, and Canada. This would hopefully lead the Allies to negotiate a potential peace treaty with Germany. However this was never the case. The German surprise was deadly and completely caught the Allies off guard. This German attack evidently had the highest casualties out of any other operation during the war. By the end of the battle, the Germans had lost a substantial amount of their armored vehicles, Luftwaffe aircrafts, and soldiers.
The M225 LWCMS (Lightweight Company Mortar System) replaced the older (WWII-era) 60 mm M2 Mortar and M19 Mortar. These weapons had an effective range of only 2,000 m (2,187 yd). While the M224 was designed to fire all types of the older ammunition, its primary rounds are of the newer, longer-range type that range out to 3,489 m (3,816 yd). In 2011, an improved M224A1 version was brought into service. The M224A1 consists of the M225A1 tube, M170A1 bipod assembly, M7A1 baseplate, M8 auxiliary baseplate and the M64A1 sight unit. By reducing the number of components and using lighter materials the mortar system weighs 20% less with a reduction of 9.3 lb (4 kg). The US Army plans to replace all legacy M224s with the new M224A1. Concurrently, a lighter version of the 81mm M252 mortar was also developed.

The war on the Eastern Front lasted from June 1941-May 1945. The conflict was between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany during WWII. However, other countries such as Romania, Hungary, and Italy supported Germany. While Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia supported the Soviets. With the soviets losing massive amounts of soldiers and civilians while fighting to keep their country from being occupied. Around 80% of Germany’s total casualties during the war occurred on the Eastern Front. With the Soviets winning the conflict on the Eastern Front this was one of the most impactful moments in World War Two.
|The Pacific War| also known as the Asia-Pacific War was a monumental point during World War II. It lasted from December 1941 to September of 1945. The main two conflicting powers was the United States and Japan. However there were other countries that were involved such as Thailand who were in support of the Japanese and the Philippines, China, England, and Australia who were all allies with the United States. With the U.S. losing over 110,000 during the war. Their attackers (Japan) lost a much larger amount of over 1.7 million soldiers during the war. After the war ended Japan would lose all of their rights and titles and it’s sovereignty was limited to the four main home islands. Japan’s emperor, Michinomiya Hirohito also would lose much of his authority and status after the war ended.
There were more than 2.5 million American men who served in Vietnam during the war. Some of these men were career military officers. But many others were poor or working-class teenagers who enlisted or were drafted into the military right out of high school. A large proportion of the soldiers consisted of African American men from the inner cities, the sons of immigrants from factory towns, and boys from rural farming communities. Never knowing who to trust during their conflicts in the war. The U.S. combat troops experienced constant fear and anxiety during their frequent patrols of the villages and countryside. They knew that the enemy could be anywhere but their main form of contact came through traps or ambushes rather than large-scale battles that you would expect in a war.
