Before we faced the challenge of chronic illness, exercise was a very important part of our lives and there was almost no limit to the amount of activity our bodies could withstand. In 2016 Lexi was stricken with her third and most serious bout of mystery illness. For two months she could not even get off the couch & I was barely able to manage our business, my full time job, preparing food for us, caring for & coaching Lexi. All of our body systems had been pushed to their limits and beyond. After following @medicalmedium
we began to heal, but we had to start back slowly in terms of physical activity. We would go for short walks to the end of our block and back, a distance of about 300 yards. After this, Lexi would be extremely short of breath and in need of rest. We began easing back into stretching and yoga by watching Yoga with Adriene videos on YouTube. We bought a rebounder & began rebounding (which Anthony says is better than jogging) for 5 then 10 now up to 20 minutes a few times a week.
Over time we have recovered much of our strength, agility and endurance.
When healing from trauma, illness or any other kind of setback, it is vital that you listen to your body and don't push too hard. Anthony cautions that when healing it is extremely important that we not over do it when it comes to exercise, we should do just enough without doing too much. You do not need a great amount of activity to experience benefits & changes. Consistency is key.
Here is a compilation of some of what we have learned from Anthony in regards to pre-workout and post workout foods to help you to regain your physical vitality.
🏋️♂️ Pre-workout: * Celery Juice: Celery provides critical mineral salts that build muscle and skeletal strength.
* Dates fuel and refuel brain & muscles * Mangoes provide sodium, glucose & magnesium for longer workouts & less burn
🚴♂️ Post workout:
* Dates stop lactic acid inferred stress
* Celery + Parsley juice is a combination that helps flush lactic acid. You can also add the parsley to a smoothie with coconut water. Coconut water supercharges other healing foods. (I.e., Increases parsley's 👇🏻👇🏻CONT’D BELOW👇🏻👇🏻
