Slagel Family Farm Tour and Dinner from @publicanchicago
in Fairbury, IL
The freezing cold made me reminisce about some of my favorite experiences about this past summer.
Attended one of the Slagel Family Farm Tour and dinner events in July with several friends. For $125 per person, we got a chartered bus ride to and from Central Illinois, a tour of one of the premier animal farms for Chicago restaurants, and an excellent family-style dinner prepared by Publican Anker and Bad Hunter--what a superb value.
Dinner was lively and great (particularly the burrata salad and chicken), but the main draws were the farm tour (where we learned how the animals are raised and tended to) and the Butcher demonstration with LouisJohn Slagel. We even got to take some wholesale beef, lamb, and pork cuts afterward at amazing prices.
I'll definitely be up for attending another one of these every summer, so let me know if anyone wants to attend one in 2019!
