I woke up this morning and almost didn’t go to the gym. I was trying to make any excuse for myself that my mind could come up with. I was telling myself that my knee is in bad shape and I should rest up. I told myself that I have a long work day ahead of me so missing one morning gym session won’t hurt. I tried to tell myself that I’ve been doing great and one missed day won’t hurt. I then immediately told myself that I should surprise myself and do exactly what I do not want to do. So I jumped the heck outta the bed, made my coffee and went to the gym. Yes my knee hurts but I don’t have to do cardio. Yes I have a long work day but working out has helped my mental state so much it’s not something I need to be lax on. Yes I’ve been killing my workouts and eating healthy but that doesn’t mean there is room for slacking. I have goals and I am ready to squash them. I hope you all are squashing your goals one by one ❤️

DB Chest Press: 105 x 8 & 105 x 5 - At this point, should I even announce PR’s? I just broke another one 🤣 - My strength is going through the roof right now and I can’t contain how excited I am about how the @maxhypetraining elite program is working for me. - I feel like I’m starting to workout seriously again and damn it feels good. - Not to mention, I wasn’t even working chest out a couple months ago because of my pain in my left pec. - BUT, I think that actually helped me. - Why? - When I started working chest again, I dropped the weight significantly as if it was my first time performing the exercise. - Then when my form was 💯, I started pushing up the weight. - Now I’m at 105 in 6 weeks...not bad. This is a simple post about grip width on the bench press and how it changes the emphasis on the muscle group being targeted Right photo: The closer the grip the emphasis will be placed more on the triceps although the chest pecs will still be recruited at a lesser degree Left photo: The wider the grip the emphasis is placed on the chest pecs and anterior delts. Stretching out your chest and pecs can help to combat some of that tightness and rounded forward posture. The way you DO the stretch will impact its effectiveness. Many of you are not getting the most out of your stretches! . . A doorway is a great spot to execute this stretch. Just pretend the rig in the photo is a doorframe. What we see a lot of people do is stretch in that same rolled forward posture with the shoulders. This isn’t really giving you the best stretch. Instead, focus on rotating the armpit forward, as in the top photo. Imagine you are trying to show someone in front of you your armpit. . . Try this and play around with how it feels both ways. Body awareness will help you greatly in preventing injuries and ensuring longevity in your athletic pursuits! Compare the two, stretch with your hand at different heights also and see how that hits different spots in the muscles. . . This is a great way to break up your day if you work on a computer or sit at a desk.
