I was looking through my sketchbooks in search of something I wrote down, and found this painting of Bucky Barnes. I made a lot of questionable choices with this painting (that jacket lmao), it's far from finished (but still somehow overworked in some places) and I genuinely can't tell if this looks anything like him or not (which might be a symptom of aphantasia that I'm just now noticing as a symptom), but I'd also like to point out that (now that I'm not filled with rage about how horrible I find this painting, as it's been a few months), that I've made pretty significant progress with painting in this style, in color, with watercolors. Like, I get that it's not very good, but if you'd seen some of my old paintings, you'd understand. The paper was ALWAYS noticeably overworked, the skin colors NEVER even really looked like realistic skin tones, and were NEVER anywhere in the realm of the skin tone I was painting. I definitely need to learn how to illustrate facial hair in a way I like, I need to work on eyes and lips A LOT. I need to learn to chill out and not ATTACK the paper, and to not immediately give up on a painting because it looks like shit (I usually give up, throw some ink on it and never show anyone - the ink not being waterproof so it's basically a way to keep myself from continuing). Anyway. Again. This isn't a good painting. I get that. But I made a bit of progress and I wanted to share that.
