Day 26: SPECIAL. I have been trying to think of what to do for this prompt all month... What in our life is special?! So many things. But some of my favorites are the simplest things. Simple does not negate special. Homemade bread is one of our most favorite things. This easy meal takes as long as lentils take to cook, BUT it goes even faster if you have lentil balls in your freezer. FOODZ 🦐🥦🥕 . . . . . one tip to live by: girrrrl, it's allllll about balance 🙌🏼 - healthy meals can really be so simple! the main groups I focus on are: protein, carbs and fats. I focus on eating REAL fresh foods. I don't specifically count my macros (I am more of an eyeball it type of gal) 👀 but I do ensure I am getting significant amounts in each meal. 😊 - this is one of my favourrrites I make when I am tired of eating chicken. which is often. 😬 - 🦐 8 jumbo shrimp cooked in pan w/ coconut oil & garlic 🥦🥕 add veggies to pan 🍚 plain long grain brown rice 🧂sea salt & ground pepper to taste! - personally I don't use any soya sauce as I think it tastes delish the way it is, but most people do so opting for a low sodium brand is ideal! Das war damals tatsächlich mit ein Anschaffungsgrund. 🤓😅 Den Milchreis hätte ich am liebsten direkt noch warm ausgelöffelt, ein zwei Löffel wurden es auch, aber ich hab mich dann beherrscht und esse ihn zum Frühstück. 😍😅 . Ich wünsche euch einen guten Start in die Woche und danke an alle die mir zum Lauf gratuliert haben! 😃❤️ Mein Puls war irgendwo im Nirgendwo, aber Spaß gemacht hat es trotzdem total. 😄 . . ➡️Für das Schlüsselchen einfach 80g Milchreis @reishunger mit einer kleinen Tonkabohne @spice_bar und 400ml Milch kochen. ➡️Im Thermomix 35 Minuten/90°C/Stufe 1/ Linkslauf/ohne Deckel ➡️Im Topf gelang er mir vor dem Thermomix am besten, indem ich den Reis und die Milch zusammen aufgekocht habe, 2-3 Minuten rührend gekocht habe und dann den Topf mit Deckel für eine gute Stunde in meine Bettdecke eingewickelt habe. 🤓😅 So brennt nichts an! ➡️Tonkabohne zum Schluss herausnehmen. Wer möchte, süßt den Milchreis wie er mag. . ➡️Einen großen Apfel entkernen, schälen und klein schneiden. Mit 2EL Wasser aufkochen, Deckel drauf und ein paar Minuten auf kleiner Flamme köcheln lassen. Mit Zimt und etwas Kokosblütenzucker anmachen und abschmecken. One of my biggest food fears is carbs...because all of this Keto diet hype has got it ingrained in my mind that carbs are the devil, priming your body to “store fat”, and ultimately making you fat as well 🙄. So unless it was cheat day, I’d restrict my carb intake quite low. As a result, my energy levels were always shot and I was always craving something sweet. This was part of the reason why I’d have massive binge-eating episodes once every few weeks... Having a single cookie would trigger me into devouring the entire box 😅. Today I challenged myself by allowing myself more carbs. I feel like I haven’t made oatmeal in a while. Today I made banana oatmeal: 1/2 cup rolled oats •1cup almond milk •1 banana(half chopped and add to milk and the other half sliced for garnish) •1tsp each: chia seeds, hemp seeds and flax seed. Place all ingredients in a small pot and Cooke over medium high for 5-8min. For strawberry chia jam: 1cup chopped strawberries •1tbsp maple syrup(more or less depending on your sweetness desire) •1tbsp chia seeds. Cook the strawberries water and maple syrup for about 5min. on medium high then add chia seeds and cook for another 3min. 💪🏼DELOADS🥞 • A few of you have seen on my stories I take it pretty hard when I can’t overload. Recently I have needed to take a hard look at what exactly stresses the body. It’s not just the intense workouts and reaching for PB’s! • I work about 50 hours a week in a high stress environment, on my feet and making decisions that impact people. I consistently struggle with sleep and often only have room for 5-6 hours sleep between shifts. I consistently and easily get over 10k steps a day and am normally just an anxious and stressed person. All of these are stressors. Only recently I started viewing it like a stress bucket with all of these things filling it up with stress juice. • Sometimes strength won’t be there, that’s okay! (Telling myself😅)signs I need a deload: I hold tons of water in my midsection, I get a really bad body image, sessions start lasting way longer than normal, brain fog or that “out of it” feeling. • Now I’m off for a deload week and in FLORIDA!🙌🏼 man I need it. • Does this picture look posed? Poslední dobou jsem si hodně oblíbila cizrnovou omeletu. ❤️ Perfektní rychlý a zdravý oběd. #vegan Potřebujeme: 1 hrnek cizrnové mouky 3/4 - 1 hrnek vody 1 lžíci lahůdkového droždí 1 lžičku kurkumy Černou sůl a pepř V míse jsem smíchala cizrnovou mouku s kurkumou, lahůdkovým droždím, solí, pepřem, vodou a nechala chvíli odležet. Pánev jsem vytřela kapkou olivového oleje a vlila do ní připravenou směs. Tu jsem pokladla baby špenátem a smažila do zpevnění omelety. Poté jsem ji opatrně otočila a ještě chvíli smažila.

TIME ⏰ . None of us have it. We choose to make time for things that we find a priority. Right? Having a balanced breakfast was never a priority for me. I used to skip it and wait till lunch to eat. 🥗 . People roll there eyes when I tell them I drink a shake everyday. But this right here isn’t just a shake. This right here is my saving grace. When I was diagnosed with RP the doctors told me that I should be eating at least 3 servings of salmon a week! 😳 Don’t get me wrong I love salmon but I don’t love it so much that I want to eat it every other day 🙅🏽‍♀️ . Lucky for me, this shake is of ALL the amino acids I need. Not to mention the 70 superfoods and plant based protein it contains too. AND it takes me less then 2 minutes to make. 🙌🏽 . Can you find 2 minutes in your day to fuel your body right? I think so!

Grocery haul. I made Louisiana Cajun chicken with pasta last night for the fam jam. This morning I had a bagel with 60g of cream cheese 😁 don't hate because I love a lot of cream cheese on my bagel. If it fits, I am gonna make it fit. I also went to my other gym last night. Jogged on the threadmill but my preference is jogging outside. Easy weeknight sheetpan dinner made from a tube of polenta and your favorite roasted vegetables. 🍅🥕🥒🥦🍆🍠 We used zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, celery, tomatoes, and onions. Olive oil helped the polenta slices get a crispy top. A little feta cheese added a slightly tangy, creamy flavor and texture. For meat-eaters, a lean piece of flank steak would pair very well! For veggie lovers needing more protein, chickpeas would be a great option. ***** Recipe Chop 2 zucchini, 2 carrots, 2 celery stalks, and half a large onion. Toss in olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast for 20 minutes at 425 F. Slice polenta into 8. Drizzle with olive oil and place on pan. Add cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. Roast for 20 more minutes. I’ve been trying to add more fruits, veggies, and Whole Foods to my diet, but I definitely still eat my occasional Taco Bell, Guidos Pizza, chicken tenders, Wendy’s, etc. Eating that stuff may not be great for you, but a little bit here and there definitely keeps you sane! But I do have my opinions based on what I’ve learned up until this point (B.S. in nutrition, ½ a dietetic internship, and my own personal research).⠀ ⠀ If you’re curious, here they are:⠀ ⠀ I think generally, our country would fare a lot better if we stopped eating and producing the amount of carbohydrate-based foods that we do.⠀ ⠀ I don’t think a “balanced” diet is necessarily the 50% carb, 30% fat, 20% carbs that’s generally recommended to ALL Americans.⠀ ⠀ I think our government dietary guidelines are based more on weak correlations and industry agendas than they are public health.⠀ ⠀ That being said, I definitely don’t think carbs are the devil or that they should be limited as much as possible in order to obtain optimal health.⠀ ⠀ I think some populations would do better eating less, and some would do better eating more.⠀ ⠀ For the ladies I’m intending to speak to here, I would bet more of you fall into the second (eat more) camp than the first.⠀ ⠀ I think there is likely a benefit to eating carbohydrates mostly in their whole-food form - like from root vegetables, fruits, soaked/sprouted grains and legumes.⠀ ⠀ I also think carbohydrates are YUM - and that that’s a good enough reason to include them in your diet.⠀ ⠀ My fav carb-based food is fresh BREAD!!!!! 🥖With butter and/or olive oil. I love that stuff. Oh and also tortilla chips. With salsa. 🍩SPRINKLED DONUT FLUFF🍩 • I figured I would post how I do the fluff that appears in my story, I may do a video tutorial on my story after a few dm’s asking questions but this’ll do for now! • My go to fluff recipe for a food processor: 1 scoop casein 2-4g xanthan gum 170g Greek yogurt 4-8oz almond/cashew milk or water About 2 trays of crushed ice • A stand mixer works best and my recipe and process comes from @w_kemp YouTube video and tips from @themacrodiabetic but some slight differences for those with only a food processor. • I spread my Greek yogurt around the walls of the food processor and place the whole unit in the freezer while I weigh out my other ingredients, crush ice and get toppings ready. You don’t want to freeze it but the colder the better so even 5 minutes or so helps. I crush all my ice in a blender first. I add half my ice and my dry ingredients to the chilled processor and start it. I add liquid slowly, just enough to help things blend and then I continuously feed it crushed ice while it blends for about 5 minutes. • Calories for fluff only: 240 11C/3F/43P • • •

Instead of waiting till I got to a restaurant that had some, I just made my own. 🤷🏻‍♀️ These lettuce wraps have an extra dose of veggies in them from chopped up zucchini and mushrooms mixed in. You won't need P.F.Chang's after this. They're so good and diabetes friendly with minimal carbs! (unless you want to pair it with brown rice, every 1/3 cup of rice is 15grams of carbs). Get the recipe below & if you make them, tell me what you think!⠀ ⠀ Low-carb lettuce wraps with ground 🦃 /zucchini/mushroom: ⠀ ⠀ For the filling:⠀ 1/2 an onion (chopped)⠀ 1 zucchini (chopped)⠀ 8oz mushrooms (chopped)⠀ 1 lb ground turkey ⠀ Salt⠀ Pepper⠀ Red pepper flakes⠀ ⠀ For the sauce:⠀ 1/4 c. soy sauce⠀ 1/8 c. mushroom stir fry sauce⠀ 1/2 tbsp mirin⠀ 1 tbsp vinegar ⠀ 4 garlic cloves (minced)⠀ 1/2 tsp 5 spice ⠀ ⠀ 1. Brown ground turkey in a pan with a little oil and add salt, pepper, and crushed red peppers.⠀ 2. Add chopped onions, zucchini, and mushrooms and cook until veggies are soft.⠀ 3. Mix the sauce ingredients together in a separate bowl then add to the ground turkey and veggies. 4. Diets don’t work! Diet don’t work! I’ve been dieting since I about 12 years old. I’ve been on weight watchers, atkins, south beach, calorie counted, carb counted, gone vegetarian, worked out 4 hours a day 6 days a week and causes irreversible harm to my body in efforts to change my body size for the sake of vanity under the veil of health because I live in a society that wouldn’t allow me to be comfortable in my own skin. A society that saw my body as some sort of offense and moral downfall. Over the last year I made a commitment to myself to stop dieting to just see what it feels like. And honestly it changed my life. For the first time I wasn’t constantly walking around in a partial starvation mode, obsessing over what was safe to eat and when I would work out. Dieting contributed (actually it’s probably the root cause) to my depression, anxiety, and an obsession with my appearance. I can’t say I ‘m completely free of these challenges because it’s a process of releasing the disgusting values of a Eurocentric, thin obsessed, diet culture. Trust me when I say my current lifestyle is healthier then the average thin person and unlike how I lived before it’s actually sustainable. P.S. Also a large part of the health disparities between fat people and thin people has to do with the detrimental health effects of yo-yo dieting as well as the medical discrimination by doctors and other health professionals. (Omg! 😱😱) haha but, don’t freak out! Carbs are good too! And we need them to have more energy! Because the body uses them to create glucose that is going to be used during the day! . It is fascinating how our body works! And maybe it is scary to eat carbs if you want to keep a desire weight or have a loss of weight! But, I just read that if we limited our body from carbs, yes we are going to lose weight quickly! But after six months this formula is not longer to be effective for our body and when the time of this diet is over, our body eill grab every gran of carbs and jeep of for itself! Gaining the weight all in once! 😱 . So I recomemd, eat the right carbs!! And cut the sugar in them.... so less cookies, sodas and cake... and more veggies, grains and fruits!☺️💕 . Here I had sweet potatoes, cata but less calories than potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, tomato and zucchini for veggies and 2 eggs😍 (love ve eggs!) 1/4 avocado on top (healthy fat, is good too!!) ☺️ and some spicy salsa! 🍕Cheese Pizza🧀 • Dominoes.. An icon of pizza porn among fitspo Instagrams everywhere. I don’t blame them.. I mean look at it. • Do you look at this and think I wish I could eat that? Or if you do eat something like this do you think you’re progress is somehow blown for the day? • My mentality in the past was exactly that. I glorified pizza as a taboo “dirty” food, saved only for some massive binge blowout cleverly disguised as the oh so trendy “cheat meal” on social media. The last “cheat meal” I had, *cough*.. (binge)*, was probably over a year ago now and I can shamefully remember eating the 6th or 7th slice despite being stuffed because I was, “back on track tomorrow.” • Don’t look to remove foods from your diet, Look to include them. Don’t replace foods you love with foods you hate. Don’t trade pizza for chicken and broccoli. Seek to compliment foods you love! Include a slice or two with a colorful side salad of your favorite vegetables. Who else loves to see a big ole pile of mashed potatoes on their plate? 🙋 . Ok, I'm more of a roasted or baked potato girl, but you can't go wrong with mashed. However, the carbs and cals can really pile up fast. Now, I love carbs. You NEED to eat carbs. Carbs are proven to enhance performance in the gym, as they are our body's preferred fuel source. I have to hold back my eye roll when people tell me they can't eat carbs because they gain weight....👀 . ▶EXCESS CALORIES CAUSE WEIGHT GAIN. Re-read that again, carb fearing peeps. . However, if you are trying to lose weight, lowering (NOT ELIMINATING) your carb intake can help. Especially if you swap it out with extra veggies that contain extra fiber and volume. . Try this mashed cauliflower instead of the potato, for a lower carb, lower calorie alternative. I promise, you'll love them. . Steam 4 C cauliflower until tender. Put in blender with 1/4 C fresh grated parmesan, 1 large clove garlic, 2 tsp of better than bouillon chicken base, salt, and pepper.
