Leo James ... 4 years old, intrepid explorer and consumer of Nature related knowledge. He's quite shy about many things, yet can randomly run up to a stranger and give them a big hug (surprise! Hug) while simultaneously using me as a human shield if close family tries to get a simple ByeBye. He's obsessed with bugs, like, if Leo disappears suddenly, just follow the nearest ant trail, the sound of buzzing bees, of the nearest spider web.
Dinosaurs are a means of expression for this kid and regularly take on extended grammatical meanings beyond their simple Noun form. He's super clumsy, most of the time, but then not everyone can be born an athletic specimen with super human reflexes and strength like his dad, but that just means he's gonna get a few more bumps along the way, nothing he can't handle. He loves floor hockey, has recently figured out how to throw a frisbee, yet is still a wee bit intimidated by an incoming ball.
Leo wants to learn to swim, play tennis, and dig for Dinosaurs. He's convinced drama on the TV will get him, so he has to run away. There is NO surface my little elephant doesn't try to turn into a trampoline. And if you think it's funny to steal a piece of his muffin, you've got another thing coming.
For anyone that's gotten this far, I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. I struggle to find good things to say about Leo, not because there aren't (because the above it just the beginning of The many Leo'isms I treasure), but because I'm struggling, and i see him aa being a big part of it (even though that's a delusion made up by my depression) - it's literally me, not him. He's a completely normal, goofy, rambunctious, temperamental, tyrant of a toddler, too fast to say No, too easy to upset, and the most determined to smile and hug and blackmail his way through any obstacle. I love this kid.. and even though it's a distant feeling most of the time, I know it's true. As true as any truth could ever be.
I just wanted to share that.
