POP O’ THE WEEK (wk 41) - This is the third time an 8-Bit Mega Man has been Pop O’ The Week, but what can I do? I love them.
This “Gyro Attack” version is extra special, because he’s one of the first Canadian convention exclusives. That’s right! Funko is giving us Canadians our own convention exclusives now, and I love it! I didn’t get to go this year, but as usual, the exclusives are shared with other retailers, so I wasn’t left empty handed. A large chunk of them were shared with stores Canada doesn’t have, so that one’s a bit of a head scratcher, but Mega Man was the one I wanted most. I guess it worked out!
Most of the Canadian exclusives had some kind of Canadian connection: We had a Rush 3-pack, a Marty McFly (because Michael J. Fox is Canadian), and some hockey player who wasn’t on my radar. But why Mega Man? There’s nothing overly Canadian about him or his Gyro Attack power. I mean, if they gave him Tomahawk Man’s Silver Tomahawk power, I’d say it works, but Gyro Attack? I figure they just had a Mega Man marked as a future exclusive and gave it to us. Doesn’t matter though! I’ve always loved Mega Man and I’d happily take whatever Funko gave us.
He also glows in the dark, for some reason! Gyro Man doesn’t glow, why would his power make Mega Man glow? Who cares! Canadian Mega Man glows in the dark! Yes please, I’ll have one! It doesn’t need to make sense. Funko knows what I want, even if I don’t know it till they show me. That’s ok!
And from now on, I’ll just assume Gyro Man’s level is in Canada. Or whoever is weak against Gyro Attack. Who is that? Crystal Man. There you go. Crystal Man must be Canadian.
