A plateful of memories
Some days you just get lucky. I did last week when I was privileged not only to meet Chef Rego a master of his cuisine and someone I have deep respect for, but also sample a meal especially cooked for me. This plate enticed my senses immediately as it arrived on my table. A bite into the peri peri squids and I was ecstatic. The fish recheado was home style. No frills. Rustic and unpretentious. The prawns cooked in caldeen masala screamed freshness and were replete with flavours. The spinach with cashew nuts was crunchy and boasted of well balanced flavours. It was a platter of real Goan food. Prepared by Chef Rego lovingly for me it was so special as was the chat before my lunch. We even discovered that his mother hails from the same village in Goa, as us. A meal and an afternoon I will always cherish. Thankyou Chef Rego. I am indebted to you.
