I used to think it was a life flaw that that I was on transit all the time, but ever since I've moved back, I've learnt that I enjoy it.
It's not a waste of time because who says life has to be rushed?
Transit is a place to take an extra moment to wake up or to unwind. It's a place of music listening and thinking. It's where smiley bus drivers live and all different types of people of all various stages of life coexist. It's where people get up for strangers and thank each other.
Friendships can form there or just friendly glances from strangers one sees everyday. Somehow we are following the same schedule yet living different lives. I'm a part of someone's routine just like they are mine.
Transit makes me feel connected to a community while also finding solitude. #buslife
“ To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself “
We are far too often fooled by social media. The small glimpses on the positives in everyone’s lives. No one shares their negatives. It is way too easy to be deceived. •
So let me remind you that #buslife
is messy, it stinks, it’s cold, you’ll pee in a two liter bottle when you can’t go outside, you’ll have to forfeit a shower and other luxuries you’ve grown accustomed to. •
I don’t have a thousand dollar camera, I don’t have nice things, I built my bus with my own hands, it’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And you can’t put a price or value on that. •
LIVE BEFORE YOU DIE
Why it takes us so long to go from A to B?
Because we love to stop, get out of the Bus and check out the landscape views 🚌
For me as a Photographer and visual person new places are always great for inspiration. When I‘m on the road, I have my eyes wide open and inspiration is waiting behind every corner. I guess that’s why I love being on the road so much. The other reason is that I love my job so much that It’s actually hard to call it a „Job“. It’s more about passion, sharing and exploring. Most inspirational places for you? Let me know ✌️

Don’t y’all just hate missing the bus? Bc that’s what happened to me shortly before I took this selfie.😂 #petpeeve #buslife
~ Seasonings I can't live without ~
Well, yeah I could live without them but a few days out of my kitchen and without my usual spices and oils and I have come to see just how much these four things have to offer when it comes to flavourful food.
Lemon, salt, pepper and butter. They are a perfect combination and simple enough to take anywhere.
I am currently roasting a chicken (in a motel oven 😂) stuffed with lemon and covered in salt and pepper and slick with butter.
Lunch was scrambled eggs and salad seasoned with salt, pepper, a squeeze of lemon juice and a drizzle of melted butter.
Last night, fish fillets with lemon, hassle back potatoes roasted with butter and steamed broccoli and cauliflower with a dribble of lemon juice and salt.
I could go on, they go with everything..... And my reason for waffling on about lemon, butter, salt and pepper??? Its inspiration to show that even when you're out and about, out of home and schedule you can still eat good home cooked food with maximum flavour, minimum effort and no packaged season mixes required.
What's your go to seasonings?
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable- Kahlil Gibran The Prophet
Day 2 exploration of Lassen National. Slightly less hiking today after yesterday's knee strain, never going to keep me down though! Much love a nd happy trails!
After registering the bus, on our way home, we stopped on one of the beaches so Kane could have a surf. Straight away we noticed it was like living in a fish bowl! People were looking in, to the point of walking around the bus. Well, no more!!! Windows are now tinted to 5% - it will take time to adjust but it will be much cooler and private for us! And it looks great!!!!
Holy crap guys!! We are at 1,000 followers!!! We can't even express how much it means to us that each of you continue to follow our journey every day!
I feel like it's well overdue for us to do a brief introduction! We are Ellison and Alexus. We own this hunk of metal behind us and she has been the biggest life changing experience for us. Our progress is slow but we put all of our energy and so much time into trying to create a real home for us and our three kitties. We want to travel and see the world and experience everything that we can during our brief stay on this Earth.
Ellison is a photographer and an electrical engineer. Alexus is an abstract painter. We are both quiet, deep feeling introverts trying to be social butterflies. We create videos of our conversion on YouTube that you can watch (a lot of them are of us being quite awkward/link in bio)! We try to keep you posted on here of what we are working on. We know this is hard work so we try to be honest and reasonable in how we experience each step of the process.
We are both so thankful to have this bus community and can't wait to continue to grow with you!!
📍Big Basin Redwoods, California
reno looks so tiny amongst the redwoods. a nice reminder of how small our individual existence is on this earth, after driving around california cities for a few weeks
We are finally UP bound and only 92 miles from the bridge! Benj needs to learn how to be a better copilot, but no, he is not riding on my lap. See you yoopers soon! 😍🚌#sisuspirit #rachelsbusconversion
“You’re not doing it right. Pull harder so I can come play in the snow with you!” Benj, his puppy brother, and a painful reminder of my pitiful paint job. Thank you, Luke for the last minute check up and for another lecture on oil changes. You’re not so bad!😅🐶🚌 #sisuspirit #rachelsbusconversion
“To all the girls that think you’re fat because you’re not a size zero, you’re the beautiful one, it’s society who’s ugly.” 😌🚌 #sisuspirit #rachelsbusconversion
📍Ragged Point, California
I know, I know... another photo of a sunset. but this breathtaking view wasn’t even the reason we pulled over to this cove... it was to see hundreds of elephant seals basking in the sun! (swipe to see)
while there, a guy traveling from Israel struck up conversation. he said he recognized the limo with the bike rack from joshua tree... not many others, apparently. we chatted about each of our adventures and admired the seals and their funny habits for so long that it led us to... 🔥 this sunset
Hard to believe that she had another life before me. We’ve given her a slight makeover and improved the seating arrangements - I think she likes it and I do too! Each day brings us a little bit further and I just love seeing the transformation take place! 😍🚌 #sisuspirit #rachelsbusconversion
