I got to spend the morning cheering these crazy kids on at their school fun run. It's one of the highlights of the school year, and never disappoints.
My biggest fear in moving up here was that we'd have to leave a school we loved in the valley, and we didn't know what we'd end up with here. But we LOVE our kids' school. I'm always impressed with the love of the teachers and staff, the deep feeling of community, and the positive experiences our kiddos get to have. I only wish they went up to 6th grade here (like in Gilbert), so all 4 kids could be in the same school together for a year.
Today was especially fun for the little one, because she got to run along side the big kids! Not that I could have stopped her from joining in if I'd wanted to! 😄 But it did my heart so much good to see my 4th grader invite his baby sister to join him. He held her hand and jogged at her pace for 6 or 7 laps and made sure she didn't fall or get trampled by the other big kids running full out.
Our kindergartener was thrilled to finally be a full participant, too. He's watched his big brother and sister do it for years, and today he didn't have to sit on the sidelines!
And afterward, the kids got snow cones and were able to hang out with local firefighters, paramedics, and police. They climbed through all the vehicles, and even had a short relay race wearing a heavy police vest.
