As we prepare for our first snow fall of the season, I feel it is time to prepare for some wholesome recipes to help our families with their colds. Last winter our daughter got her first cold. It of course sucked. She couldn’t sleep due to the congestion and fever. It was heartbreaking to witness. We believe to nurse not reduce a fever. Fevers come to fight off the bad germs. I do my part to keep it down, but still let it do it’s job for her body. So we did warm baths to gradually bring the temp down. NOT COLD. That can put their body into shock. My mother would plunk me in a cold bath. I’ll never forget it. (Talk about ice bucket challenge 😱) I gave her some healthy homemade ice pops. ( I recommend elderberry pops) I steamed the bathroom with our shower and clog our drain so I could diffuse lavender oil. I made GOOT aka Garlic coconut oil rub and rubbed it on her feet. I used @ashleemayerblogger
recipe. I also made elderberry syrup from @wellnessmama
. I made the Thyme cough syrup, and for the nose I used boogie wipes, water wipes, and saline sprays. (I just found a DIY boogie wipes. By @byjillee
. I did all this and breastfed as much as possible!!! All this helped so much!!! I must say I am not a doctor or a professional anything. I’m just a mama who follows her intuition and believe less is more. I prefer to make medicine our last resort. I rather boost our immune systems with healthy foods. I personally have found that when I would take medications I would get worse first then get “better”, but with my immune system shot. I at least feel not only better, but stronger when we go the holistic route. I hope this helps you and your families. So stay with me here but doing squats with your baby/a weight can help stabilize your neck!
As sometimes you don’t have time to go to the gym or even formally workout at home it can be helpful to squeeze in a few sets or different exercises throughout the day. This exercise will activate your posterior chain of muscles and will in turn help you stabilize your neck.
It is worth mentioning that even though you are probably picking up your newborn fairly often, your body responds differently as you repeat a specific movement pattern and help to not only engrain that movement into your brain, but also can cause your muscles to become stronger by virtue of providing enough stimulus to your body with the specific number of reps and sets.
So when doing this exercise make sure to:
✔️Keep your chin retracted (activating your deep neck flexors)
✔️Pull/tuck your ribcage downward so it lines up with your pelvis (no rib flare)
✔️Squeeze the floor with your feet as if you were trying to pick it up (without curling toes under)
✔️Breathe in deep with your diaphragm as you descend and brace while doing so with your abdominals
✔️Push through the hips as you ascend and breath out without letting go of that abdominal brace

So Bry is a breast-fed baby and if you know anything about breast-feeding is hard to get a baby off of breast-feeding with that being said I have bought four different sippy cups to try to get him to transition since he didn’t like bottles at all none of the sippy cups seem to work so I end up getting this juice from the gas station and he seriously drink the whole thing so I refilled it with more juice and he’s drinking out of this bottle! I bought a sippy cup for $11 this bottle of juice cost me $3.49 and it’s reusable!!!! We are one step closer to no more breast-feeding!!!!!! #breastfeeding #nomorebreastfeeding #babyshark
When I was pregnant I was told varios times that breast feeding would be hard and even painful. I began to think would I be able to breast feed?
Well, the answer is yes! I have to say at first it was not easy... Especially the commitment having to do it every single day... every hour... at times I struggled even with not having enough milk.
Nevertheless I stuck with it!
What helped most was resting, sleeping often. and even taking mini vacations!
Going to a laction group and most importantly every time I wanted to give up I didn’t.
I am proud to say that at the 6 months mark now breast-feeding it’s like having a cup of coffee or brushing my teeth.
I know there’s women out there that probably have a different story. That’s OK the point I’m trying to make is to follow your excitement and to follow what works for you. This was my way and it’s exactly perfect. Just as yours is too!

¡Bueno, la respuesta es sí! No tengo que decir que al principio no fue fácil.. Especialmente el compromiso de hacerlo todos los días... cada hora... a veces luchaba incluso por no tener suficiente leche.
Sin embargo me quedé con ella!
Lo que más ayudó fue descansar, dormir a menudo. ¡E incluso tomando mini vacaciones!
Ir a un grupo de lactancia y lo más importante, cada vez que quise rendirme no lo hice.
Me enorgullece decir que a los 6 meses de estar amamantando ahora es como tomar una taza de café o lavarme los dientes.
Sé que hay mujeres por ahí que probablemente tienen una historia diferente. Eso está bien, el punto que estoy tratando de hacer es que sigas con tu entusiasmo y con lo que funciona para ti. Some "news" about Emma's food. Since she went to the hospital and it appeared I was not producing enough milk the situation... Didn't change. Sadly Emma get a bottle of formula (120ml) every time after breastfeeding. Sometimes I think "it's OK she still gets a bit of good stuff from my milk" and sometimes I get pissed. I hate preparing bottles, it's too long, she's crying and I can't help her and then I hate my own body for not being able to feed her. Except if I was spending my days pumping my breast there's no way I can make it back to 100% breastfeed.

But not only during pregnancy but also in the fourth trimester when baby is still tiny, aswell as ongoing, it’s massively important in those regards - especially if you breastfeed, but even if you don’t babies are super sensitive beings and can develop allergy easily and they will be exposed to what you wear when skin to skin. For newborns the smell of the mum is comforting and soothing and the body is so smart the areola actually produces the exact same smell as the one in the womb! (That’s why a tiny newborn can their way to the breast if left tummy to tummy after birth). So if you’re wearing unscented allergy friendly products you’re baby will thank you 😁
