Do you ever feel like you need a respite between certain books? If I’ve just read something really heavy or challenging, I turn to thrillers next. Thrillers are palate cleansers for me. The way my mom used to decompress by watching The Hallmark Channel is how I read thrillers. Which, thinking about it now in relation to my anxiety, that’s saying something that my relaxation period consists of feeling tense and anticipatory. But maybe I enjoy it -along with my love of horror movies - because it’s a form of anxiety and fear that is controlled and contained and lacks real-world consequences? So maybe I’m subconsciously comforted by it.
In any case, this is the next thriller I’m reading! I need a bit of a break from Milkman tbh.
What are you reading today?
Vivi uns 2 meses em 15 dias. Nem parece que ainda é janeiro. Além do #desafiodos7livros

The first book of 2019! ⭐️ I loved reading Annemerel her story. Also some great motivation for a new running year 🏃♀️

So much love for these books 🖤 I just love the grishaverse and can’t wait for king of scars! Leigh Bardugo is such an amazing writer and I really feel like rereading all of her books now! Maybe I’ll reread a few stories from the language of thorns 🙈
It's strange because in reality, I'm not the leading guy. Maybe I'm the best friend. I guess I didn't think of myself as interesting until I was interesting to Blue.

I am not so sure about the date bc unfortunately I deleted the first posts of this blog, but if I am not really mistaken it has been a year since I created this account.
It's a shame I can't share the post that was the beginning of everything bc I deleted it lol but here's the book that was featured there 💜
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THE ONES THAT JOINED HERE DURING THIS YEAR ✨ and welcome to the new ones, you guys will have to deal with me for a couple more years. Joining this community was one of the best decisions I have made, no doubt.
Thanks for this first year 🐨✨
Have a nice day!
Damn you Elizabeth May for writing a steam punk book (my first read in this genre), sucking me into the well written story then ending it, just ending it in the middle of the climactic scene and making me almost throw this book across the room when I remembered it was a library book!
P.S. I hate cliff hangers. 😶 Other than that the book was great read . . . now I'm off to sulk.

“When you are in the middle of a story it isn't a story at all, but only a confusion; a dark roaring, a blindness, a wreckage of shattered glass and splintered wood; like a house in a whirlwind, or else a boat crushed by the icebergs or swept over the rapids, and all aboard powerless to stop it. It's only afterwards that it becomes anything like a story at all. When you are telling it, to yourself or to someone else.”
- Margaret Atwood, Alias Grace -
What book have you lost yourself in? That kind of read where you lift your head from the page and realise you’ve been reading for hours without realising it. -
For me one of them is definitely Shadow And Bone. I just started re-reading the trilogy in preparation for King Of Scars and i’m falling in love with it all over again. This series may have some flaws but the wonderful world of The Grisha and story are incredible! 🖤 -

Happy Tuesday, book friends!
I’m honestly struggling a bit with reading Milkman and it has me asking all these questions about why I personally feel the need to read certain books and why being intentionally difficult to read is not seen as a negative against a book and the difference between narrative choices being creative versus inaccessible. I was going to write all my thoughts and questions here but they won’t fit, so I’ll have a blog up about it soon.
I don’t usually do questions of the day but I’ll admit this post feels kinda meh so why not? What’s a book that everyone raved about but you just couldn’t get into?
Beyond anxious to finish 1Q84. I feel like I just need to move on to another read, preferably a shorter one. I kind of miss doing more regular reviews, which has been impossible because I don't like to read more than one book simultaneously. The exception happened this month with Convenience Store Woman, but I read it in one afternoon so it wasn't problematic. Next up is The Perks of Being a Wallflower since it was by far the most recommended book when I asked in my post and on my stories.
