Week 3 Book Pick: Tiffany D. Jackson - Monday's Not Coming
Her first book, Allegedly (swipe ➡), had me hooked. And the curveball at the end had me going back to find out how I saw it but at the same time missed it.
The friend that recommended her first book tolde this one is just as good, actually better. Looking forward to getting lost into this one!

"there was: communism, health foods, zen, surfing, ballet, hypnotism, group encounters, orgies, biking, herbs, Catholicism, weight-lifting, travel, withdrawal, vegetarianism, India, painting, writing, sculpting, composing, conducting, backpacking, yoga, copulating, gambling, drinking, hanging around, frozen yogurt, Beethoven, Back, Buddha, Christ, TM, H, carrot juice, suicide, handmade suits, jet travel, New York City, and then it all evaporated and fell apart. People had to find things to do while waiting to die. I guess it was nice to have a choice."

One night in an isolated college town in the hills of Southern California, a first-year student stumbles into her dorm room, falls asleep—and doesn’t wake up. She sleeps through the morning, into the evening. Her roommate, Mei, cannot rouse her. Neither can the paramedics, nor the perplexed doctors at the hospital. When a second girl falls asleep, and then a third, Mei finds herself thrust together with an eccentric classmate as panic takes hold of the college and spreads to the town. A young couple tries to protect their newborn baby as the once-quiet streets descend into chaos. Two sisters turn to each other for comfort as their survivalist father prepares for disaster.
Those affected by the illness, doctors discover, are displaying unusual levels of brain activity, higher than has ever been recorded before. They are dreaming heightened dreams—but of what?
Written in luminous prose, The Dreamers is a breathtaking and beautiful novel, startling and provocative, about the possibilities contained within a human life—if only we are awakened to them.

| Q O T D | Which character from Harry Potter do you think you most resemble? ➸
I think I most resemble Luna Lovegood, Cedric Diggory, and Remus Lupin. Luna because I’m witty and just a bit weird, Cedric because I’m caring and a loyal friend, and Lupin because I carry burdens that many people never see. ➸
I have two colleagues at work that I’ve formed a bit of a trio with, and another colleague refers to us as Harry, Ron, and Hermione. When I asked who I was, she replied, “Hermione. And not because you’re the only female. Because you are Hermione.” ➸

Name- The Mind Game
Author- Devika Das
Genre- Self Help
The Mind Game is a wonderful self- help book, patiently and meticulously authored by Devika Das. Focusing on dealing with emotions and feelings, it helps us by giving us small tips.
The book is divided into 6 segments, covering themes related to emotions, people, life, happiness anger and how to behave at the workplace. The author picks up one issue at a time and provides easy techniques to overcome them. The mention of short stories along with each section gives it a personal touch and helped me relate more to the problems that might happen due to overflowing emotions at the wrong place.
The book is written in an extremely simple and straightforward way but the clarity of thoughts is an evidence of the hard work and research put in by the author. I really like how the methods to solve these issues and imbibe the positives are simple and direct- something related to our everyday life and not extravagant. Being a working girl myself, I could relate well to the various problems at workplace, mentioned in the sixth segment and I couldn't agree more with the author that control over emotions will make them easy. I really liked the book cover- simple and on point. I won't say that the suggestions were something we haven't heard of but the book helps to realise where to put them in use. Towards the end, I felt the recommendations became a little repetetive but worthy. I would love to read the book again and start applying a few suggestions in my everyday life.
Thank you @themindgame_book
for this wonderful book!

Have you ever had a near death experience?
When I was three I ate poisonous mushrooms that enlarged my liver to the point that the doctors told my parents there was nothing they could do and I wasn’t going to make it through the night. At 11 I almost drowned in a river. Before going under I remember floating under a tree, looking at its branches in contrast against the bright sky and thinking, this is how I die. .
Maggie O’Farrell has experienced 17, yes, 17 such brushes with death that she uses to hinge her powerful memoir on. Each chapter recounts a near death experience and O’Farrell writes in a such a compelling and poetic way that I held my breath quite a bit and was left astonished all over again at the evanescence of our lives. Her simple yet beautiful prose almost dances with, gracefully sidestepping, death, as she recounts her thoughts and feelings in vivid detail during the events. .
At one point she says that once you’ve had a brush with death, it becomes ingrained in your character, it changes you, and I do often wonder at the outcome that would have been if a man didn’t see me in that river before diving off a 40 foot cliff to save my life.
I am, I am, I am, is definitely a book that will stay with me for a while. Recommend ⭐️
Is there magic hidden in the mountains? Is there a lingering war between the territories? How far will the characters travel across their world?
These are the type of questions I ponder when I find a map in a book. I love when there maps in the books. You get a glimpse into the world even before you read a single syllable. The possibilities of the created universe are opened.
As much as I love poring over maps before I start reading, I sometimes forget to refer back at the map while I’m reading. I don’t know why I do that. But that still doesn’t take away my joy of studying them when I first open a book. 🤷🏻♀️

Until I’m Yours - Book 4 in the Bennett Series ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Remember when I said that I wasn’t a big fan of Cam?Well I definitely didn’t like Sofie. As in I wished the forth book was about Meredith or anybody else. And I even considered not reading it.But because it still was a Kennedy Ryan story and she is such a magnificent storyteller I started and damn! I think Sofie’s story is my favorite.
Creating heroes is never difficult.A hot, tall, rich man and you’ve got yourself a Prince Charming. But creating heroines is really hard. Because as a reader we want many things from heroine. We want to be able to relate to them, be jealous of them and learn from them all at once. We want them to be perfect but not too perfect 🤦🏻♀️I believe Kennedy Ryan always creates best Heroines . For example Bristol from Grip, Jo from Bennett series and Banner from block shot are my personal favorites. And as complicated as Sofie was.She made such a good heroine. She was literally the evil jealous blond from Walsh’s story. She was mean and rude but more important than all she was real, imperfect and raw. She was human. She had her share of mistakes. She had her insecurities. Although she was flawless from outside . Blonde, beautiful and famous. She was alone and heartbroken. Heartbroken because no one tried hard enough to see past her supermodel looks. To want more from her. To believe she has more and can give more. Too heartbroken that she believed that she wasn’t anything more than a beautiful face.To be honest after reading many books I sometimes ask myself the same kinds of questions. Like am I really as kind as that character from that book or as beautiful as the other or as smart and funny?Do I have that one thing to make someone love me so much and never get bored or change it’s feeling? Because we see what heroes fall for. And as much as these romantic books make me feel good they make me wonder about myself too. That’s why Sofie’s story got my heart. I felt her. I felt her insecurities and I loved how she could move past that and see that every person has something more. It doesn’t need to be book cliche. It’s unique and original and personal. Book 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Thank you to the author, @jennilwalsh
for sending me this free copy! I really loved this telling of Bonnie and Clyde! I’m quickly becoming a huge fan of historical fiction, and if you’re a fan too, I recommend picking this one up! Review below! 👇🏻
Side by Side is a fictional story, based on real life events on the lives of Bonnie and Clyde. Told from the perspective of Bonnie, Side by Side takes place in the early 1930s. Bonnie is waiting for Clyde to return from prison so they can live the American Dream. When Clyde returns, they end up spending their lives a bit differently than they had planned. Clyde promises Bonnie that someday, they will have a farm with a lot of land for just the two of then. To get there, they just need some money, and what better way to get that money than to steal it?
I loved hearing about the adventures of Bonnie and Clyde from the perspective of Bonnie. Bonnie’s character was conflicted between knowing what they were doing was wrong, but trusting the love of her life to give her the life they had dreamed about. Bonnie wouldn’t even think of leaving Clyde, no matter how many times they almost got caught. I highly recommend this book for fans of historical fiction! You do not need to read book one first, they can be read as standalones!
