Finally got this #throwback #abstract
to the table and my hopes for it were entirely affirmed!! No players control any parts of the board, or have any pieces on it. Instead, each player is adding to and manipulating the scoring potential that is drawn and executed using a deck of cards. What's lovely about it is that even if you see your opponent pull off a huge score, you could just as easily accomplish a similar one; if you are able to get the right cards. A good #boardgame
always includes mechanisms for mitigating randomness and #Masons
is no exception with TWO separate means of discarding cards to redraw, as well as one to increase your hand size. Which can dwindle if you score two cards at a time.
as we were only 2 points apart (despite the visual distance as I wrapped the board twice 201-199). This design truly stands apart from all other abstracts as the players are not competing on the board, making it the #carebear
of abstract #games
