This is always one of my favorite stretches during the drive back home from visiting my parents.
“You guys willingly slept in -5 degrees for fun?” We’re a little insane, but I’d do it again.
It’s a big old world out there. A super cold one of late. But we hope y’all are taking advantage of the cold nights and crisp days for some wandering. @austinbwalker
shows off why getting a late start can pay off with this night scape from @fortmountainstatepark_.

Jonea Mohn grew up surrounded by art and music. Her mother is an artist and educator in Jonea’s hometown near the Ozarks in Arkansas, and her father, an avid photographer, gave Jonea her first point-and-shoot camera when she was nine-years-old. Because her family had a love for everything outdoors, nature became and has remained a common theme in her artwork and photography.
After changing from violin performance, Jonea completed a BFA in Design at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro with an emphasis on photography and drawing.
After graduation, she traveled to and through China with a group of student photographers, focusing on storytelling, documentary photography, and studying with masters in advertising at the Nanjing Normal School of Photography.
Jonea moved to Knoxville from North Carolina in the summer of 2014. While her professional work has been directed toward portraiture and photography instruction, her personal endeavors are still steeped in her love for the outdoors and the activities she enjoys. In the last few years, she has developed a love for macro and long exposure images.

Fall/Winter (basically sweater weather or colder) is my favorite time of the year but I’m starting to look forward to the lush greens of spring in the mountains.

Instagram —> cold, hard reality. Some nights you’re sipping red during the mountaintop sunset. And sometimes you’re sipping tea, working after work. May the meh times make the amazing times that much better. And damn, we’re ready for some warmer weather adventures.
It was worth being in 4 degree weather for 45 minutes to capture this gorgeous photo of the blood moon last night.
Pre-show of the Super Blood Wolf Moon from the top of @appalachianskimtn
right as the sun was setting and the moon was rising. No it wasn't windy at all, just had to hold down the tripod during exposures! A very long day including a winter hike with family and friends, then a night session of skiing in high winds and cold temps until 11:30pm – shooting from the resort between runs, then quickly going home to continue shooting until the end of Penumbral at 2:48am. More images to come of this Universal Goodness!
This is a composite of 2 images, one exposed for the landscape and one exposed for the moon. Edited in @adobe @photoshop
Landcape exposure: 130 mm, 1/50 sec., f/4, ISO 100
Moon exposure: 130 mm, 1/500 sec., f/4, ISO 100
Single digit temperatures high lighted by the warm glow of the rising sun
Tried to flank this little dude's position for some photos, but he was too cunning and escaped my lens. This was as close as I could get, which wasn't close at all. I was hoping his attention would stay focused on the feast of field mice he was enjoying, but once he detected my presence, in the nearby creek, he disappeared into woods. Next time..
I stopped in the middle of the road for this one-that moon caught my eye yesterday evening and I couldn’t stop staring in awe🌕
Also-good thing we travel a lot of backroads 😂#ibrakeforthemoon
Took the day to be outside, to breathe in the bitterly cold air. You know the kind of air that simultaneously takes your breath away and makes you feel alive. Ahhh it’s finally starting to feel like winter around here. Happy MLK day everyone, stand up for love! ✌🏼
