🙌🏼Proper preparation prevents poor performance. 🙌🏼 On that note here’s a #techniquetuesday
that I’m a day late for! 😅
Today’s technique is side kick - if you haven’t already, check out my YouTube video on side kick exercises to improve stability and flexibility for your kicks!
Stabilising strength through your core and hips is so much more important than how flexible you are, but the two together ensures strong execution with less risk of training injury. 👌🏼
Here is 2 quick steps for technique improvement.
(1.) A good solid PREPARATION POSITION is so important and I love adding (2.)VISUAL CUES for technique execution.
I have developed a habit of visualising a straight line explosion 💥 from my glute to my heel, like a rocket 🚀 or a firework to give a straight line of power through the movement, rather than only thinking about where I want the foot to land and having a disconnect.
I have seen great results in explaining this visual to both children and adults with an instant change in their movement with applying it.
So there it is, prepare with a high knee, good grounding and a strong core and visualise a straight line explosion from glute to heel. 👊🏼
