This article from came up in my newsfeed on Facebook and I scanned the article to see how they meant this - they totally meant it as a joke — but it really made me think about how far removed most of my diet used to be from a natural source. My diet for most of my life consisted of so much “fast food”, food’s with added sugar and foods with preservatives. The fast food may have been fast but it’s quality was super poor so I would need more of it to sustain me. The added sugar made food that normally would taste disgusting palatable. Preservatives are added to food so that their shelf life could last for so long however, most preservatives are not great in high doses for human consumption. With all of that food making up the majority of my diet, it makes sense that I always felt tired. It seems a little backwards that farming or hunting my own food seems like the more foreign concept today rather than eating Frankenstein-foods . First meal of the day! Power protein pancakes. I burned the first one but made the next smaller. Ingredients:3 egg whites, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 cup gluten free organic oats. Vanilla, cinnamon, stevia. I ate a green salad before with a tbs of avocado oil and apple cider vinegar. It’s suppose to help prevent the insulin spike before eating a starch! On other days, I’ll have a quick to make low calorie but equally delicious pizza. . . 🌈 made this incredibly tasty pizza the other day in less than 30 mins. The chapatti / tortilla gives it a nice crisp base without the added calories and the sauce is so easy to make yet so flavourful. With wholesome and tasty ingredients, I bet you are going to love this cheesy delight. . Here’s the recipe for you to try: . 🌈For the Pizza sauce: Ingredients: 3 large tomatoes (puréed), 4-5 garlic cloves, 1 tbsp chopped fresh basil leaves, 1 tbsp dried oregano, 2 tbsp olive oil, Season with salt and black pepper. . . To make: Heat oil in a pan, add garlic and sauté. Add the tomato puree and cook on a medium flame for 5 mins. Once tomatoes are done add the basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 1-2 mins on a low flame. . . For the Pizza🍕 : . . Take a chapatti/ roti / Tortilla. Spread out the pizza sauce, evenly spread ¼ cup of cheese (I have used cheddar but you can use mozzarella too), top with any colourful veggies of your choice. (I have used cherry tomatoes, red and yellow bell peppers, corn, broccoli, capsicum, and onion.)🌈🌈 . . Put it in a preheated oven at 180c for 5-10 mins, until the sides of the tortilla are starting to crisp. . . If you do not have an oven then just make it in a pan. Serve immediately and enjoy! Just blend pistachio in a food processor with coconut butter. Cream is based of banana, vanilla powder, cashew(pre-soaked). building a bulletproof formula for my lunch today. 95% of the time it consists of multiple and variety of plant sources as a base half raw half cooked, an appropriate protein portion for my size and some fats. I always try to rotate my sources of food, aka not eat the same foods everyday. A) because it sucks on repeat. B) it increases your diversity of microbiota. C) possible less chance of sensitivity / intolerance. — Breakdown: 1. Raw Veg aka rabbit food: Big handful of wild rocket / arugula + broccoli sprouts + turmeric and pineapple sauerkraut. 2. Cooked Veg; Roasted fennel + tomatoes + squash 3. Protein: Wild sockeye salmon (which was on offer st my local market on friday) with Zaatar (a Middle Eastern spice mix of thyme and sumac) as a spice mix on top. 4. Fats: Extra Virgin Olive oil + raw walnuts + green olives + smashed avocado. — Surprisingly, the whole meal equates to under 600 calories. — The fennel and squash are light flavours which really go well with salmon which is a readily available source of DHA which can be absorbed and transported into every cell. Remembering food first. This would be my typical lunch meal or dinner when I have the time to prepare. Recipe to come soon. I contemplated for a while giving you 10 reasons why I added this little yellow thang in my life. Truth be told, I hesitated for the longest time. But maybe that doesn’t matter to you? Maybe my reasons are not your reasons? So, I did want to highlight my 3 personal reasons why. The other 7 may interest you ... I dunno. This is how oxidative stress was affecting me and my body. 1️⃣ SLEEP - like actual REM sleep. I’ve shared a little about my struggle with PTSD. While I did, and still do, many things that help aid that. I was never getting REM sleep. There is a difference between REM sleep and just sleep. With no drugs. 2️⃣ RECOVERY - I truly enjoy running and weights. But man was I struggling! Before, during & after. I tied it down to aging. I recover SO much better. 3️⃣ DETOX - My world is full of toxins. From the water I drink to the air that I breathe. I can’t even with the WiFi or 5G. I needed leverage. That’s it.
