True Story: All balls aren’t created equal 🤣
I’m not a rookie but I made not only a ROOKIE mistake but a REALLY STUIPD one on Tuesday. I hope YOU can (laugh with me not at me) and learn from it, lol!
I do SOME form of ball slams at least once a week during a HIIT session. Sometimes I use a heavy ball that isn’t really designed for ball slams … sometimes I use one that bounces back .. sometimes I use one that doesn’t bounce back .. sometimes I use a light one .. sometimes I use a heavy one. So I’m MORE than familiar .. with alllllll the types of … balls (lol.) ——
If you missed my post on Tuesday. Go back and check it. But long story short …. I was in a hurry to get my 15 min of HIIT done … and ran to the room where our gym has lots of weighted balls.
I wanted to pick a heavy ball that DID NOT bounce back. In my defense … USUALLY those types of balls are the ONLY ones they have in that room. If I want one that “bounces” back — I usually have to go grab one from upstairs. I don’t think I’ve EVER seen a “bouncing” style ball in there.
Anyway … STUPID ME just grabbed one not even THINKING or NOTICING it was different. I went to “test it” (by test it I mean throw it down to see how heavy it was based on how I was feeling that day.)
Well to my SURPRISE … it wasn’t a ball that slams down and stays put. It was ONE THAT BOUNCES back. Basically … an 18 pound basketball went STRAIGHT TO MY FACE. Specifically my nose and mouth.
I have a pretty dang high pain tolerance. So when it INSTANTLY hurt .. bad. I was a little worried. Then I got really worried when I felt that warm feeling running down my face and that nice metallic taste in my mouth.
I busted up my nose pretty good and have a couple nice teeth marks in my lower gum .. which is still swollen like a rock. BUT I didn’t lose any teeth .. I got my nose to stop bleeding and guess what? I did my HIIT as planned! I just skipped out on the slamming of any BALLS that day and did one of my sprint timers instead, haha.
So yeah .. balls are great for HIIT .. just know WHAT kind of ball you are slamming, lol!

It's been one week since the WBFF Australia Pro/Am.
Today I'm reflecting back on how far I have come this year, what I have achieved and where I want to go moving forward. I believe so strongly in goals and visualisation. We are only human and there will always be days when motivation is low, when it seems impossible to stay on track or when we just want to give up. It's on those days that we need to have a why. We need to know why we fight every single day to make our dreams a reality. We need to know why our goals are important to us and why we want to achieve them. We need to visualise what success will look like and keep that image clear in our minds day in and day out.
Post-comp is often when the real challenge begins. The prospect of winning, the sparkle and glamour of the stage is done, the next show is months, even years away... It's so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of life. Our goals and what is important to us can be forgotten. After every show, you want to have a structured reverse diet, clear training plan and new goals set in place to keep you progressing, growing and learning.
For me, this year was about making my dreams a reality. I managed to earn my Pro card and compete on stage with the best of the best. Now, it's time to kick things up a notch. If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough. And I'm dreaming big! I've worked to my absolute limit to earn my sash. In this off season - progress season - I'll be working even harder to get my crown 😉
I'm so proud of the physique I brought to all three shows this year and always aim to compete better and more refined. I came in at my leanest, and tiniest, for my Pro debut. It took a lot of hard work, discipline and it was not easy. For my next show, I'm planning something very different. Time to build some curves and put on a whole lot of muscle. I want to create a new shape and get strong! I've spent so long competing over the past few years that I haven't actually given myself the proper time I need to grow. Patience is key for change, so I'll be grinding for the next several months... Maybe a year to bring my best physique yet ❤️💎

Today’s gym antics...
It’s glute day.
So I’m in the squat rack working away when all of a sudden out of nowhere this guy, let’s call him Gym Douchebag, Gym approaches me in the squat rack basically trying to tell me my form was wrong....
“See you put the bar up here like this,” Gym says.
I reply, “yeah I know ...that’s a front squat. I’m doing a Zercher squat”
He goes “oh really? What’s that?” 🧐
He goes on, “That doesn’t hurt your lower back?”
“No. Because My form is focused on targeting my glutes.”
Gym looks a little crushed and dumbfounded. He then proceeds to enter the squat rack to try it himself.
I have moved on to my next set and he follows (mind you I have these big ass headphones on this entire time). Gym then asks me, “Do you do CrossFit?”
😡 “No I don’t do CrossFit”
“Oh you look like a cross fitter”
Gym realizes he is fully defeated at this point. “No. I’m not a cross fitter”
Moral of the story. Don’t be a Gym Douchebag.
