Tonight I drove through a strip of town where one of my city's larger bar scenes is located.
Despite the weather being painfully cold, I sat at a stoplight gazing at probably two dozen young people shivering in line waiting to get into a bar.
I use to be them. I use to live for the weekends. Only to feel #empty
, dirty and regretfully ashamed with myself on #Sunday
. Broke and broken again by Monday.
I sat there in the warmth of my car thankful and grateful to our merciful #Father
for His #grace
that I'm no longer in that place.
I wish I could have traveled back in time at that stoplight to scream out my window to my younger lost self ..."Your directon equals your destination, change course, take a better path!"... and that he would hear and immediately understand the futility of the path he was choosing.
Such a contrast of lightness and #darkness
, these people above in the video enjoying being filled with the Holy Spirit, versus those standing in line freezing waiting to get inside to the bar to pay for the counterfeit form of the real thing that's completely free and void of #hangover
"Don't be #drunk
with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the #HolySpirit
psalms and hymns and #spiritual #songs
among yourselves, and making #music
to the #Lord
in your hearts." Ephesians 5:18-19
apart from #God
would look at that #Bible
verse above and see a God who is a party-pooping-downer-buzzkilling-god.
A life who has been saved and redeemed by #JesusChrist
is able to see that verse from a completely different prospective: a Saturday night #love
note from a #GoodGoodFather
to His sons and His daughters.
This video above shows a few of them living out the #truth
of that #Bibleverse
in real-time. 👆
