// Inner work is real work --whether on myself or with my clients. Between journaling, getting coached, coaching clients, supporting family members, taking care of a puppy, and learning more about boundaries and courage, I sometimes feel drained by the end of the day. So I've been leveling up my self-care game lately. See if you need to do the same, too. It might be a game-changer.
I've also been really focusing on getting myself in uncomfortable situations so I can increase my courage and tolerance for discomfort. Last night at the movie theater, I even got this crazy idea that I would see a scary movie as an experiment in mindfulness (if you don't already, you should know scary movies terrify me and my emotional brain totally hijacks the logical side that knows it's not real). If you have any more ideas, I'd love to heart them!
"Don't lower your expectations to meet your performance. Raise your level of performance to meet your expectations. Expect the best of yourself, and then do what is necessary to make it a reality." -Ralph Marston
Expect the absolute best of yourself and continue to reach the expectations that you set. Prove the naysayers wrong and extinguish any self-doubt you might have. Live life both with confidence, and a smile. Be bold, be willing, and be true to yourself 🙌
Hope you guys all had an amazing day today! Keep striving for greatness! #staystrong

While it is easy to constantly worry about what others think, the only person we should be trying to impress is God. .
The fulfillment you will find in seeking God will be much better than seeking happiness in others’ opinions of you.
I once wrote a check for groceries that I knew would bounce cuz it was the only way for me to get food that week (yep, really).
And now I’m here on my dream vacation with my BFF in Greece 🇬🇷
I am sharing this story to inspire you. To show you that it IS possible for you. You can live the life of your dreams. Even if your situation right now makes it feel impossible.
While we were clinking glasses🥂with a view of the mediterranean, I think back to a time when we were clinking red solo cups on the floor of our dorm room in college.
We started talking about this trip years ago when both of us were broke AF💸.
We used to sit in her apartment and eat instant ramen on top of the cardboard boxes we used as a makeshift coffee table.
When we first started talking about this trip to Greece, it felt like a fantasy. It didn't feel like something we could really do, while we were still building our careers and getting our footing in life.
💕But we decided. 10 years of friendship. 30 years old. GREECE.
We sacrificed sleep, nights out, and time with friends & family. We both lived in some sketchy ass places and did every odd job you can imagine.
And we did it. Now, at 30 years old we are both living the lives of our dreams.
For me, have built my own company that champions women and allows me to travel the world full-time. ✈️🌏
At when it came time to plan Greece, it was a no brainer. We made it happen.
➡️The truth is, where you are at in life right now really has no bearing on where you are going. What matters is that you take the first step towards your future. And then the next step and the next and then don't stop until you get where you are going.
However, it takes more than just hard work and dedication. It takes vision. It takes focus. And, possibly most important of all, it takes support. Surrounding yourself with people who will inspire you, encourage you and keep it real with you.
"In life, have a friend that is like a mirror and a shadow; A mirror doesn't lie and a shadow never leaves."
Grateful every day for my mirror + shadow, @natrulitoasted
Rooting for you.
We have a crucial choice in our life. We can choose to criticize and beat ourselves up for not being exactly where we want to be, OR, we can choose to celebrate ourselves. Choose to celebrate the fact that even though life is really hard, you continue to show up for yourself and for your life every single day.
In today’s episode of IPO TV✨ Live on my #igtv
channel [link in bio] - We are chatting all about this. All about celebrating ourselves for showing up, trusting that the act of showing up will get you where you want to be, and how much of an all around rockstar you are for showing up in your life!
Spoiler— I say “celebrate” A LOT in today’s episode, so in the words of Parks and Rec, “Treat yo self!”
W H Y use a natural deodorant?
Okay so sweating is our bodies’ way of regulating temperature and releasing toxins, two very crucial jobs. Antiperspirants and chemical-laden deodorants work to clog up pores and don’t allow the body to properly release the sweat necessary to cool down the body and release toxins (why they’re called anti-perspirants) when sweat is mixed with the natural bacteria on our skin - it can smell; which can be helped with a Natural Deodorant.
Not only can it cause skin irritations but the most scary fact is: antiperspirants are applied often and on skin near breasts, some reports claim that the chemicals could be absorbed through your skin and cause estrogen-like hormonal effects. Alzheimer’s and Breast Cancer have both been linked to aluminum compounds found in antiperspirants, and some might even contain infertility-causing toxic chemicals. You can find all these reports from studies online. Have a look at your deodorant can - the first ingredient is always Aluminium...🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️ I dunno about you but I wanna try avoid any of those “possible links” as possible.
I have tried EVERY natural deodorant there is and this is the ONLY one I have personally found that works! I exercise every day & move around a lot in my job & this always has me covered | @earthspuritiesdeodorant
It's so easy to get caught up planning and thinking of the future but we tend to miss the beauty that's around us at this very moment. Be Here Now. Be #present
Hmmm... what to do with all those jars you have laying around... you could make candles?
Yeah, you should probably make candles & just keep reusing your jars over and over and over. Maybe put some used coffee grounds in to give it a little scent? ☕️ We have soy wax and candle wicks in store & online — you’re on your own with the coffee grounds✨ #jointherefillrevolution

but haven't dabbled in concentrates just yet? We are always happy to supplement the glass nail for a dry herb slider - and vice versa 🔁 All you have to do is ask!

Gone are our single use plastic pouches, we are now using recyclable PET jars 🙌🏼

Do you live slow enough to stop and smell the flowers? Or is life to busy your not even noticing them?
When we slow down we can really appreciate the simple beauty of nature around us 🌱🍃🌿🌲 #stopandsmelltheflowers #breathe #liveslow
I had so much fun reading to Early Childhood this morning! Dr. Bird let me choose the books so I picked two on Mindfulness, ‘The Lemonade Hurricane’ and ‘Silence,’ to align with today’s #WellnessWeek
theme: Down Shift. #NormaBlueSays #BeMindful

So let's be honest here. Life for me comes in full throttle waves. One month I will feel completely on top of the world, and some months I just feel like being still and quiet. I think this has become more apparent to me since including you all on my journey. I have become more aware of when I want to be present on social media and when I don't. With those slow downs also come lack of motivation. Netflix binging ( #thegreatbritishbakingshow #doctorwho
), not great eating habits and little exercise. I know, I know shame on me! BUT I have taken some time during this little down swing to understand how to handle these seasons when they do arrive and ways to slow down INSTEAD of giving up and having to start all over.
Sometimes we have to learn how to grow through the changings of life and taking that time to figure out how to do that is ok. Just don't give up.
I’m going to get very real for a minute. It’s extremely easy to dismiss what I encourage you all to do as ‘naive’, ‘unrealistic’ or ‘ideological’. Or with that classic blanket excuse of ‘that’s just not how life works’. Well, when I’m talking about Self Care, I’m not just talking about making sure you’ve got the sexy body you want or that you’re nice and zen (though these things are important). I’m talking about your HEALTH.
I imagine you’ve all wondered at some point how I started doing this so young, why I care about it so much. The biggest reason is probably my mum.
My mum was so dedicated to taking care of me and my siblings, while keeping my very highly strung QC father vaguely calm and functional. She was unwell for a long time before she was finally diagnosed with cervical cancer. She knew something was wrong but the cervical smears came back negative and she was used to soldiering on.
So I lost my mother aged 16, after 4 painful years of watching her suffer.
I know that she didn’t have the most terrible diet or lifestyle, if we were to measure it against, let’s say, the Standard American Diet. But that’s a long way off from eating and exercising in a way that can prevent such awful, family-destroying illnesses. I often think that all that I know now could have made such a difference. It’s a painful thought but it drives me to share my knowledge and to encourage you all to take your health very fucking seriously. Now. While you still are well. Not to wait until you have to pay attention.
It’s a very affronting notion, but unfortunately one that statistically we all need to be very aware of.
This is why ‘You First’. Because it’s the least selfish thing you can do.
Consuming too much sugar can actually weaken your immune system! 🤒 .
Say what?! 😲 .
As the main building block of your immune system, White Blood Cells protect your body from bacteria and viruses by enacting Phagocytic action; devouring and rendering the invaders obsolete. When you eat food or consume beverages containing sugar, at 100mg or more in total, the body’s glucose levels fluctuate above its normal levels, leading to the function of your WBCs to be negatively impacted. ❗ .
Vitamin C, which is absorbed into your WBCs for proper cell function, has the same chemical formula as glucose. With an abnormal increase of glucose in the blood stream, the sugar molecules compete with the vitamin molecules, resulting in less vitamin c being absorbed into the cells. With less vitamin C, the cell’s reactivity to foreign invaders becomes diminished, leading to immune system deficiency up to 5 hours after large sugar consumption. 🍨 🕒 .
While eating some sugar won’t cause a negative impact, it is important to not overdo it. Balance is the key. 🔄 🔑

I would love to have some input and get discussing!!
It’s important for us at Jack to try and end the stigma surrounding mental health and boys. check yourself and check your friends. it’s easy to make comments like that, but it’s hard to hear them from others. #BeMindful
Life is messy especially with a 3 year old. I've gotten sidetracked & that's totally ok. But... deep down I've always had the compassion & conviction to not eat animals. I lived many years as a proud vegetarian. Well that spark is ignited again. I'm not a fan of labels. I eat what I like, what makes me feel good and that's it. Except now it more important than ever for Mother Earth, my daughter & generations to come. #bemindful #beconscious #bekind #eatyourveggies #vegetarianrecipes #vegetarian #vegan

A Trip of a Lifetime
So many new ladies introduced to the business!
As much fun as we had at the Gospel Brunch, it was also a deeply meaningful event. We appreciate ALL of the support we got! As a token of appreciation, we printed some custom artwork that we had designed by Dennis Chow (@dennythunders
) plus we’ll have prints, t-shirts & swag on sale soon too! .
In the food and beverage industry chefs, waitresses, baristas, hostesses, bartenders, & more, are all busting their asses each day to make sure each forkful and sip you take is made to your liking. Behind the perfect lighting & trendy decor this group of tireless individuals are working around the clock in fast paced, and stressful conditions.
Due to the long hours, intense pressure, and culture of our industry, we’re highly vulnerable and at risk for mental health and addiction challenges. We’re ranked in the bottom 10% of industries for mental health and wellness and have the highest rates of substance disorders (16.9 % vs. 9.5% across other industries).
That’s why every dollar we made is going towards developing workshops with our partner Mind Matters (@mind__matters__
), to help improve the minds of those who give their hearts and souls to each meal we eat. By providing the tools needed to tackle the stress that comes from working in this industry, we can make these stats above a thing of the past and help create a new culture that promotes better mental health & less addiction for all. Thank you & we hope you enjoyed Gospel Brunch! 🧠💕🍴🎶💛✨🙏🏽
