with good friends and family 😉 enjoying Bellwoods Farmageddon BA Wild Farmhouse Ale with Niagara Montmorency Cherries - - April 2018.
Lots of 🍒 here, balanced acidity, mild brett and stone fruit notes - such a great way to cap off a shitty week. TGIF!

Tropical Mo Betta Milkshake IPA during this cold and rainy Austin, TX weather! Recovering from a sore throat, exhausting day of work and apparently black people can be sunburned in Mexico! Chocolate Thunder is in full effect this fall 😂🍻
Roaming across Idaho, peering through dense forests to find some of the most gorgeous scenery! This all happens to pair perfectly with @laughingdogbrew
’s cream ale. This ale is creamy with a crisp finish, just like autumn days in Idaho.
🇬🇧 🇺🇸 Meat Dandwich and Scottish Ale Sandwich
The meat of this sandwich is made with wine and honey, leaving it bittersweet. Together with the bread it forms an excellent combination. To pairing we chose a Scottish Ale, a very malted beer. It has in its flavor the predominance of sweet from malt. The sweet of the beer resembles the sweetness of the meat, amplifying that flavor. The bread closes very well with this combination of flavors. It is very worthwhile to test this pairing.
We were recently fortunate enough to host a release party for Oakshire Brewing‘s new hazy IPA! This was all the more special since the can of this beer is adorned with the unique pattern of the carpet from the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. In this episode we review this Kubrick cinematic masterpiece, based on the best selling Stephen King novel, and pair it with the delicious new offering from Oakshire. Sitting down with us is Jodi Campbell, the Portland area sales rep for the brewery and long time friend of the podcast. Also featured is some live content from The Nerd Out PDX which was recorded live during the release event!
Of course, all of this sounds pretty great, but we can assure you that there is plenty of our normal ridiculousness going on as well… We discover there just might be a certain genius in being a jerk (or vice versa), decide that we take most of The Shining hidden message conspiracy theories to be garbage, survive a pterodactyl attack, find that Lee gets “beer boners” and hold the first ever Dread, Fright & Brew Fact-off!
Very special thanks and shout outs to Oakshire Brewing for letting us be a part of all this, brewer Dan “Motherf**king” Russo and his team for creating this amazing brew, the marketing folks who decided that a horror-based graphic was bankable and Jodi/George for working some “day of” magic to get this whole thing pulled off. Cheers!

Beer Math...easier than real math?!
Former Tenant - 7.8% - @modusoperandibrewing
Unless you’ve had your head under a rock, Modus Operandi have been one of the most successful independent brewing companies in the last 5 years. 2014 The Former Tenant dominated the Beer awards scene and still continues to be a crowd favourite today. The reason is simple, big, hoppy, tasty beer. Red IPA known as The Former Tenant is a core range beer that takes the hop heads to their happy place, which then finishes with a sweet nice caramel note. Similar to their former tenants (read the story when you can) the aroma out of the glass is big and bold. You know you are about to take on a beast of an IPA. Do not be fooled. This beer is hop heavy but the beauty is in the balance. The passionfruit and mango notes with the added caramel flavour to end combines like beer on a hot day, it just works. Proceed with caution as it’s a big 3 standard drinks out of the can. Give someone else the keys and enjoy this brilliant drop. This beer maybe not be a ‘new’ one but it’s worth ordering every time you see it #waterstobeers

La Trappe Quadrupel oak aged batch 21
New Oak High Toast 10%
New Oak Medium Toast 5%
Acacia wood 5%
The Oak Aged Batch 21 has a dark brown mahogany colour and a beige brown head. The soft aroma immediately reminds you of walnuts. Accompanied by a slightly smoky aroma, you can detect oak, caramel malt, alcohol, vanilla and, of course, French brandy. The flavour, although balanced, is not particularly mellow. The brandy barrels have clearly left a lot of wood influences, which manifest themselves in vanilla and almond. Additionally, the Quadrupel has a caramel-like, slightly sweet flavour with a good, full body. The flavour ends with a slightly burnt tone and a hint of wood tannin. Due to the light tingling of the carbonic acid, combined with the wood flavour and sweetness of the beer, the sensation in the mouth is full and pleasant.
