Life is too short to read books you’re not enjoying, right?
Unfortunately, I had to DNF Last Night Out. Maybe I’m not in the mood, or the fact I’m not connecting with the characters, but I just can’t stay focused on that story.
SO - I’m beginning 𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐑 𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐏𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐈𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐄 by Gail Honeyman. Yes, I know! I’m late to the game! This has been on my TBR for forever and I’m SO excited to dig in 🤓
I’ve got my cup of tea ready, & a night of reading ahead of me ☕️📖
Have you read this?

"Over their heads he saw that an area of lawn right in front of the castle had been transformed into a sort of grotto full of fairy lights — meaning hundreds of actual living fairies were sitting in the rosebushes that had been conjured there, and fluttering over the statues of what seemed to be Father Christmas and his reindeer."
Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire
“I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it's very difficult to find anyone.' I should think so — in these parts! We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner!” ― J.R.R. Tolkien

this post was meant for Sunday. i finished reading A Court Of Mist And Fury at 5 am and was screaming as silently as i could. i still can not settle down from the excitement filling the entirety of my body from this book, even right now. when i read A Court Of Thorns And Roses i got this feeling in my heart that made me both squeal and smile. it’s a peculiar feeling that only happens to me when i am doing something or are somewhere in particular. it’s as if the Universe is smiling and cheering me on for doing just what is needed for me, a feeling of celebratory fate. a feeling as if everything lined up for this specific moment and it is so warm and special. i felt as though i needed to read this book series, i felt as though i’m SUPPOSED to read it. even though it’s high fantasy, there are themes i personally relate to hardcore and my goodness Sarah J. Maas is a Queen. this is a 5 star book in my heart, and i like it so much better than the first which i absolutely LOVED as well
i’ll be reading the next book of this series very soon...ahh. i was telling my love about these books and he always listens to me being wholeheartedly excited and thoroughly passionately explaining a book even if it is scrambled and messy. a smile on his face showing that he is happy that i am happy. it’s sweet. i’m glad i started reading Sarah J. Maas’ work this month, and not any time before this month. talk about divine timing
Q: do you keep journals and/or diaries? ——————————————————
i am obsessed with my journals and i have specific ones for specific things. in this photo, starting from the bottom i have my bullet journal (planner) that i sewed myself out of faux leather and other things, my journal of lists that i use mostly for work purposes—and to rewrite daily/long term intentions over and over again throughout the day, my bookish journal—where i keep quotes and thoughts/feelings provoked from books, and on top is my diary. my diaries are always just a simple hardbound Black Moleskine. one day i’ll post my entire journal collection. happy Tuesday, i hope your week is off to a smooth beginning ✨✨✨ [#bookstagram
Vacation has begun and my oldest kid declared himself too old for them, so I’m donning the ears and enjoying some downtime.
Always surrounded by piles of books-and I couldn’t be happier about that if I tried ❤️📚❤️
Black Friday is quickly approaching and I case you missed what's happening around Little Inklings, I've posted some info in my stories about everything that's happening!
There's a lot happening but one thing I do every year is a "LAST CHANCE" section on my website that brings back retired and past products at a super discounted rate for one last chance. This year, I have a handful of these Tea and Books mugs coming out of retirement, along with one other mug, and some past bookmarks, including last year's Christmas/Holiday designs! Everything in this section is incredibly discounted but also only available in limited quantities so don't miss out when everything goes live November 23 at 12 AM (EST).
I'll have more posts the rest of this week about everything else happening this weekend!
Adulting never ends. Growing up is continuous. And our journey here on earth only gets more interesting as years go by. Almost Adulting is the perfect book for everyone who wants to understand what growing up really means today.

Read books aloud to kids , is our most favorite job in the world! And our mission too! Raise kids healthy grow up with good books feeding their soul, just like sunshine to plant, bread to our body.
Me: I’m going to read while my kid is occupied because I miss reading as much as I used to.
Also me: *watches my kid while she plays because I find her endlessly amusing and smart*
(Anyone else find themselves easily distracted? I complain about reading time but then end up scrolling Instagram or Twitter after posting a photo about how I’m going to read ( or watching my kid lol) 🤷♀️)
I DID make some progress on The Dinner List while she played. I’m liking it a lot so far. Speaking of progress, this is our porch that we’ve been just using as storage since we moved here in June. We have slowly but surely been cleaning it out. A few weeks ago we got a couch and an end table from my stepdad and this week we put in that foam mat and the plan is to make a nice little play area out here. It will be nice to have another spot to hang out/get a change of scenery and I love this porch because there are windows everywhere and it gets good sunlight. It’s proven to be pretty warm when the sun is shining on cold days. I’m just envisioning sneaking in some nice reading time out here while she plays once it’s fully fixed up. We are making progress that’s for sure.
I’ve shared my struggles with the new area I’m in and it’s really hard to be near nothing especially now that it’s colder. But my unhappiness with it all has faded and I surely am enjoying our house. It’s definitely got feelings of home. I still want to move when we are able back closer to the city but I love this house and how we’ve made it home. So yeah, update on that because I know it’s something I shared on here a couple of times how hard this move has been for me.
Trying to make a dent in THE LAST NIGHT OUT, but I’m finding it a bit difficult to connect to any of the characters so far. Hopefully this changes! 🧐
On a more fun note, I did a little bit of clothes shopping today, and I got the comfiest, coziest, best sweater EVER! I’m wearing it in this picture 😂 it’s got pockets AND a hood.. what more could you want?! I love shopping for cozy sweaters 😍 perhaps I’ll show you all tomorrow in my stories 💛
What have you been up to, bookies? I feel like I’ve been too MIA this week! ✨

"But how,” said Charles, who was close to tears, “how can you possibly justify cold-blooded murder?’
Henry lit a cigarette. “I prefer to think of it,” he had said, “as redistribution of matter."
Hm, who do you think would win - Henry or Victor? Well, if you take away Victor’s power that is, otherwise the fight would not be fair.. I’m not sure, but I think my money would be on Henry..

What is your favorite memory? ✨
Mine is probably on my honeymoon when my husband almost died. 😂 We were camping in this beautiful forest off the coast of Northern California and we were a two minute walk from the beach. That night, I heard some weird cracking noises. I tried to wake my husband up and he said “it’s just forest noise”. Sixty seconds later, a tree came crashing down directly over our tent. I pulled him toward me and my husband rolled on top of me fast and the trunk landed right where he had been laying. Then we had to hike half a mile to get to our truck in the dark of night with tons of critters running around. It wasn’t fun at the time, but it gives me bragging rights for the rest of time that I saved his life. And now whenever he doesn’t listen to me, I always say “you’re right it’s probably just forest noise” 🤣

Ever since I was a child I had a love for books and writing. The first time I decided to write a novel was 2 years ago and it was such a great practice that helped me with finishing my most recent novel. Writing however, goes deeper than that for me.
Since I was a child I struggled with severe #depression
and at 22 I started therapy for the first time. Though I had always loved writing, going to therapy enhanced my love for writing and played a huge role in my healing.
In 2016, I published my first book Rivers Are Coming, a collection of essays and poems on healing from depression and trauma (#linkinbio
). Since then, I have been writing non stop and decided to write my first novel which is women’s fiction.
I would love to know a little more about you. Are any of your currently writing a #novel
or in the hopes of writing one? Leave a comment below and let me know!
Got some work done in a nice cozy corner of a coffee shop this morning ❄️

The Diary by Vikki Patis was one book I was really looking forward to reading. I was immediately intrigued after reading the blurb. Unfortunately, it was a slow building thriller that had a somewhat hard time keeping my attention. It did have some suspense but I figured a big part of the plot in the early stages of the book and in my opinion, the whole thing could have been solved more quickly. I did really appreciate the author for touching a sensitive subject that is teen bullying and suicide.
Here's a quick synopsis:
Ten years after her friend's death, Lauren returns home for the memorial so she can pay her respects. She soon begins to receive threatening text messages about Hannah's diary full of secrets about her and their old group of friends. She spends her time trying to figure out who is sending those messages and why the person wants to bring their old secrets to the surface again after ten years.
