I bought vegan macarons so I could recreate the scene from Gossip Girl of Blair Waldorf stuffing her face with desserts in a luxury bubble bath to celebrate Valentine’s Day. 💝🛁 #ValentinesDay
. . .
My two book recommendations for this Valentine’s Day are “All About Love: New Visions” by bell hooks and “The Vagina Monologues” by Eve Ensler. While I find some parts of “All About Love” to be slightly outdated (it was written in 1999) and having too many Christian biblical expressions for my tastes - this is just a personal preference, others might feel differently - it is still full of positive ways to rethink of love in all forms. It explores the notions of love set by our society, self-love versus narcissism, and how love effects the lives of individuals, as well as entire communities. ❤️ Next, “The Vagina Monologues” is a play that started a movement. Twenty years ago, Eve Ensler decided to gather women from different backgrounds to talk about personal experiences surrounding their lady bits, the good and the horrible. Now, it’s a global activist movement to end all violence against women/girls (cis or fluid) including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery. In order to do all of this amazing work, they bring awareness by performing works from the book, raise money, distribute funds to grass-root as well as international organizations, and produce innovative gatherings, films and campaigns to educate and change social attitudes towards the issues mentioned in the monologues. Organizers call February 14th V-Day. The 'V' in V-Day stands for victory, valentine, and vagina. Happy Valentine’s Day!!! #VDay
