At $15 (after tax), I couldn't not buy this @evanwilliamsbourbon
bottled in bond, especially after having their single barrel. I must say, at $15 per 750mL, I'm not sure there is a better deal.
This bourbon is enjoyable. Simplistic, but a solid bourbon.
On the nose, vanillin, caramelized sugar, and a touch of cinnamon sticks. First sip was met with sweet vanilla syrup and caramel. As it sat, some cinnamon spiciness crept in along with the slightest oak. The finish is quite abrupt with slight drying on the sides of the tongue (but not unpleasantly- like the dryness cinnamon leaves). I've seen reviews citing some dried fruit on the nose, but I didn't detect any.
Anyway, I'd gladly pay $15 for a bourbon that is sweet, upfront with both caramel and vanilla, and sits pleasantly in the mouth.
