Don’t even think about taking this ball unless you’re goin to throw it.....
Took a day off and went skiing at Hoodoo!
Every weekend is #whpwanderlust
for us! Even better if they include views like today’s!
Picking up trash can be a family event. Today’s mission was to pick up trash along our favorite canal where we love to walk our dogs. .
We started with grocery sacks, which we were filling up in seconds. Then lo and behold, we found these giant, 50 pound, nearly impenetrable, grass seed sacks (aka trash) lying along the canal. They were perfect for all the sharp stuff we picked up. Broken bottles, tire treads, nails, steel pipes, you name it.... we could carry it out without losing any of it. .
In this instance, one man’s trash was another man’s treasure. These giant sacks were definitely a treasure for us. 90 pounds of trash removed today! Doing our part to help keep nature trash-free.

We’ve hit some false summits with Bella’s shoulder injury...but I think if we keep looking up, we will be over the hump soon. Hang in there, Spots!
Someone is very thankful and happy for what’s coming our way!
We’re overdue for some time off leash and in nature 🍃Thank goodness it’s Friday!
The ocean was wild today! And there was this cool foam all over the beach.
Snow, it’s majors best friend.
Not sure what’s better than being out on a little adventure with a happy pup smiling back up at you. #takeamuttruk
Right after we were reunited with Bella following her scary cardiac reaction to the sedative for her bicep procedure on Tuesday, we took her outside and she immediately found a nice bed of warm mulch to take a nap in. I truly think that despite her ordeal, she was happy. She was smiling. She had her humans and the sunshine back, and that’s all she needed. 💛🌞💛
We are attempting the PRP injection again a week from today. I’m so anxious to get that done and start physical therapy. I can’t wait to see steady progress instead of steady decline, to slowly add back in activities she loves one by one instead of slowly taking them away one by one. It’s been so many months now, and we have at least another 3 or 4 months of PT before some semblance of “full activity” with Bella (still not sure that the veterinary professionals quite understand what full activity looks like to us, but I’d be thrilled with short trail runs and backpacking trips at this point). I can’t wait for the day when I can stop writing posts like this. We can’t thank you all enough for your support and brilliant ideas to keep her occupied, comfortable, and happy
Meanwhile, we start Nosework classes with Bella again Tuesday. Our house is getting ridiculously organized and cleaned. I’m planning some new blogs and gear reviews based on our experiences with Bella’s injury. I’m organizing her medical claims and researching more on her injury every day. And I play the Rocky theme song several times a week when I’m feeling down to visualize her glorious return to the trails. Yes, that is actually something I do. 🤷♀️
The rain is tempering off and we are finally able to take longer walks again without getting totally soaked. It’s no problem for Emma to have a few mellow days, it’s more me that is getting bored of staying inside so much.
Watching the sunset is one of our favorite moments of the day. It’s so important to me that I check the precise time it’s going to happen each day. Whether we are hiking or or at home, we make sure we’re outside to watch this glorious event. Arizona never disappoints. #arizonasunset #arizonahighways #sonorandesert
Find moments that inspire you and hold onto them.
Maybe a lot of you can relate, but I tend to have moments of being utterly positive and encouraged and sure of myself (think Chip Gaines brain 😋) and other times find myself worrying about unknowns. During those times, I have found that I feel encouraged out hiking with my dogs or listening to inspiring music... so here’s to chasing sunsets and cool tunes! 🌅 🎶 What encourages you?

This girl... those eyes.... yesterday, when I took this photo, I was certain she was looking at me with endearing eyes full of love. Today, as I’m posting this, I think she’s looking at me thinking... can we please get this picture over with so I can go play in the river? Or maybe it’s a combination of both! Love my Allie and her expressive eyes.
It was a very strange day today, filled with lots of relief, fear, frustration, and then some more relief. Thank you all for your kind words and support during the last few hours...Bella could feel it. We love that this community absolutely understands that a dog is never “just a dog.” She is doing well and we are getting ready to head home soon. I’m about to update a story highlight with the events from today for those who are interested in learning more about what became a very long day for The Queen of Spots. Finally, thank you to the staff of @canineortho
for bending over backwards to help Bella today! #canineortho
Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing. #mondaymotivation #mountainmonday
Some big steps are happening this week! We are officially moving forward with the first (very small) batch production run! These 10 packs will give us great information for the process going forward. So excited to be making progress towards the end goal of making this one-of-a-kind pack available to those of us out adventuring with our dogs! #takeamuttruk
Monday lovin’ from the puppers.
After yesterday’s hike, we took it easy today with a walk around our favorite lake in the watershed. One side of the lake is open space with grass covered hills and the other side is a beautiful redwood forest. Can you guess wich side we prefer?
Joy. I imagine dogs feel joy almost every day of their life, if not multiple times per day. Whatcha think?
Today was exactly what we needed after a week of rainy weather. First we wanted to do just an easy hike but ended up on doing 7 milestones up and down. It was so peaceful and quiet because it was really muddy and a lot of people probably didn’t want to get that dirty.
Cubbie trying to take credit for this puzzle. In her defense, she did chew up one of the pieces, so that was one less piece we had to find a place for. Thanks Cubbie 🙄
Have you ever moved at the pace of your dog? It’s an experience that will never cease to amaze us!
It sure is a snowy day in Colorado! Nearly a foot in just one day where we are! Happy weekend! ❄️❄️❄️
Our favorite little neighborhood park looks so colorful right now! 😍
