Conceded defeat pretty early on this one - I really think it’s primarily because it was late and she didn’t nap well today. I imagine next time we introduce at least the guac, black beans, and tortillas they will be a hit! Jury is still out on fish!

The mango was so soft and ripe, even after we washed and cleaned Lorelei up after breakfast, she still smelled like mangoes! She was a little unsure about the mangoes in the beginning (since it was her first time trying them) but after a couple squishes and tastes, she loved them!

Baby Basic Pomodoro Sauce
1. Boil 2 tomatoes in water until the skin wrinkles.
2. Remove from the pan and let cool. Peel the tomatoes, remove seeds and chop.
3. Saute 2 cloves of garlic.
4. Add the chopped tomatoes.
5. Add your choice of fresh or dried herbs. I just used the italian seasoning we have in our pantry. Then add a pinch or 2 of salt.
6. Add about half a cup of water. Let the sauce boil or until the liquid has reduced.
7. For a finer consistency, pass through a wire mesh or blend.
Feel free to add chicken or fish in your sauce. We just used plain sauce.
Extra sauce can be placed in the freezer for future use.

It was stormy all day today and so hard to find activities to keep a 15 month old preoccupied. Usually Everett eats half his lunch before he naps and finishes the rest when he wakes up. Maybe he was bored with the weather today, but he ate everything!!!

Así que ahora lo que hago es prepárame las porciones más grandes y le doy de ahí. Así que también estoy ahora más estricta con lo que como porque mi hija está pendiente a todo lo que yo hago. Esta mañana ella estaba comiendo de su arepa (primera foto) y luego me quito la mia 🤣 (segunda foto). Les comparto esta idea a ver si así sus hijos se animan a comer más variedad 😉
My daughter has asked me to eat from what I am eating lately even though we have the same 🤷🏼. She is in a stage of repeating everything, and I think this is part of that too. What I do is prepare a larger portion and give her some from mine. That means I am also stricter with what I eat because my daughter is watching everything I do. This morning she was eating from her arepa (first picture) and then took mine 🤣 (second picture). I share this idea to see if your children are encouraged to eat more variety 😉

Not the most well rounded or healthy dinner, but Theo ate it all! He hasn't been a huge mac and cheese fan so I was surprised to see him eat all of this. We have been working on his utensil skills and he actually did really well with his fork tonight (yay)!

é dar autonomia ao bebê, permitir que ele coma sozinho. Por mais tentador que seja, especialmente no comecinho, quando ele ainda está muito desastrado com as habilidades motoras, o ideal é não ajudá-lo.⠀
Tente se desapegar de pensamentos: “ah, mas ele está passando fome, me dá pena porque quer agarrar o alimento e não consegue, no fim não come nada”. Agarre-se nestas ideias: ele ainda tem o leite (que até completar 1 ano é o principal alimento), ele está se divertindo, descobrindo sabores e explorando texturas. Com brinquedinhos novos eles também se frustram, faz parte. Ele ainda não sabe que aquilo mata fome, ainda não sabe engolir (isso geralmente começa a acontecer ao redor dos 9 meses, mas pode acontecer antes), então é preciso ter paciência (nosso tema amanhã). E vocês, conseguem deixar o bebê no controle?⠀

Lillie-Mae's Mummy: DINNER . 🌟Salmon puff pastry parcels, with a cream cheese, dill and lemon filling
🌟Mixed veg (carrots, peas, green beans & sweetcorn) .
Recipe - Jo Pratt ('In the mood for quick family cooking, 2016) .
I try and find simple, affordable and QUICK meals for adults and children to share. These salmon parcels did not disappoint. I was worried the parcels would be bland (the worry with most BLW cooking!), however the addition of Dijon mustard and a good amount of seasoning gave it the extra flavour it needed. I bought ready rolled puff pastry and cooked the frozen veg in the microwave to save time and washing up! The whole thing took 30 minutes to prepare. .
Lillie-Mae really enjoyed this, as she always loved fish. Salmon is really good for adults and children, but it also incredibly versatile! You can wrap it up and bake it (with any flavour combination you want), throw it in with pasta or cook it in the microwave and spread it on toast with mashed avocado (a favourite for Lillie-Mae and I!) .
Jo Pratts's cooking book ('In the mood for quick family food') is quickly becoming one of my favouritecook books. My copy is currently on loan from my local library, however I think I will be buying my own copy very soon. I definitely recommend a visit to your local library to root through the cook books. It keeps your weekly meals varied, plus it's FREE! .

It's 60 some odd degrees out and it feels amazing. We move in a few weeks and I'm beyond excited. I'm excited to be in an old home with stories and stability and that isn't this concrete maze. I'm excited to be in the backyard with these two. Enjoying the breeze, and relaxing. Soon. Soon. Until them, we will work hard and pack and get things ready for this moment. Yes, we are stressed about it but it'll be worth it when it's said and done.
💫 RAW VEGAN COOKIES 💫 .
no sugar | oil-free | GF | flourless .
The easiest way to make a cookie 🍪 Perfect snack for kids .
Ingredients: ▪️ 1 1/2 cup soft dates.
▪️ 1 cup rolled oats.
▪️ 1 cup chopped walnuts.
▪️ 1 tsp cinamon. ▪️ 1 tsp pure vanilla extract .
Directions: 1. Combine dates, oats & walnuts in a food processor
2. Then add the flax-egg, vanilla & cinamon, process until well combined
3. Scoop 1/2 tbsp of the dough & roll it between your hands to form a ball
4. Use a fork to flatten them
5. Refrigerate 4hrs before serving

😋 NUTRICIOS MAC & CHEESE 🧀
My daughters are obsessed with mac & cheese as I assume a lot of kids are 😉. Here's a nutritious recipe for mac & cheese with a twist🤤. This recipe serves one hungry toddler 👧🏻. Multiply quantities for more people (It's so yummy, I make it for all of us)🤗. •
-1 1/2 cups water
-1/2 cup whole wheat pasta (small elbows are perfect bite size)
-1 teaspoon olive oil
-1 sliced of american cheese (I use Kraft singles)
-2 tablespoons cream cheese
-1 teaspoon margarine or butter
-1/4 cup whole milk
-Cooked chicken breast about the size of your palm
-Handful of spinach
1️⃣Using a medium pot, add water, salt and olive oil. Bring to a boil.
2️⃣Add pasta. Cook until desired consistency (note that whole wheat pasta takes a little bit longer to cook). Drain pasta and set aside.
3️⃣Meanwhile, chop the chicken breast in tiny tiny tiny squares almost to the point where you don't see it. Same with the spinach, chop very small. Disguise as much as possible... 4️⃣Using the same pot, melt the cheese, margarine (or butter) and cream cheese using low heat. Once melted, add the whole milk to make the cheese sauce more liquid. Stir.
5️⃣Add the chopped chicken breast and spinach to the cheese sauce. Stir until blended, about 3 minutes under low heat.
6️⃣Combine the pasta with the sauce. Stir until well mixed.
7️⃣Lastly, enjoy! Happy toddler, Happy parents. #menumondays #mothercould
