Last night the instant pot helped me cook chicken breasts in no time and I was able to add some turkey bone broth and vegetables to make a quick six minute soup. I added 2/3 a bag of frozen cauliflower, diced butternut squash, frozen mushrooms, chopped celery along with @primalpalate breakfast blend and gyro seasoning and dried dill. I was surprised how quickly I was able to make this soup to enjoy for breakfast and I’m thankful for that after being around sick co-workers the last couple of days! #grainfree #autoimmuneprotocol #instantpot #traderjoesfinds

RAW POST: I don’t usually like to talk about what’s hard in life. I like to recognize that it’s there and that it’s okay that it’s there and then let it go do its thing and focus on the positive. But my heart felt incredibly lonely today because it was one of those days where I was feeling really sick and I think I wanted to connect with someone over that hard day. But I also don’t really like to verbally share (like talking on the phone, not my thing). It’s a lot easier to write it out! I have been having a lot of autoimmune systems lately: lots of vomiting after eating foods, bruising over my body, difficulty sleeping, and other things that I don’t really want to share. And today it just felt really hard and I wanted to throw my hands up in the air and shout, “I am SO over this!” . I am trying a soup fast because that was the initial start of my drastic health improvement 4 (?) years ago. I’m actually quite excited to do this and I think it should help (we’ll see!). Overall, life really is wonderful, but there are some crappy days in between the ordinary and extraordinary ones and sometimes the heart just needs to explode and share it all! 💚😂😊 . We have been making this recipe every week on a busy night. It’s so easy in the Slow Cooker. In my Slow Cooker it only takes 2 hours on low. The recipe is Lemongrass Chicken by @nomnompaleo . When your world feels like it’s falling apart, you’re covered in darkness and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel, WHAT DO YOU DO? _ First I crawl onto the couch and binge Grey’s. I ignore the pain. Then I cry. Then I call my girls. And cry and cry and cry. Then I eat some chocolate. Then I realize, this too shall pass. _ I have experienced horrific ups and downs, dark places I never wish to return and have had to make a decision every single time. Do I sit in this space or do I experience the pain and lessons and then choose myself and move forward? Sometimes it takes me longer than I want, but I always get clear and take the step. _ When shit hits the fan, I urge you to feel all the things. And then you GET to pick yourself up off the floor, take a shower, eat a nourishing meal, and remember you’re a badass that really can do anything. We are never given more than we can handle and in each rough patch is a beautiful experience on the other side. The worse the obstacle, the better the reward. It’s your choice.

My throat is bothering me, so my super awesome husband brought this @holykombucha home. If there was a kombucha-drinking world record, I'm pretty sure I'd hold it.
Dr’s Orders | the day I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition I was scared and it was overwhelming. I didn’t know what it meant for my health long term and I didn’t know what to do. My Dr. first told me to remove all chemicals and toxins from my home. She taught me that many of the chemicals and toxins found in cleaning products, laundry detergent, fragrance sprays, beauty products (shampoo, make up, hair spray, deodorant, all of em) are endocrine disrupters. RECIPE 👇 for paleo-friendly japchae! This tasty soy-free version of the Korean glass noodle and vegetable dish is made to be compliant with the elimination phase of the autoimmune protocol, but you can add sesame seeds or chili threads if you have reintroduced them. # Ingredients 1 tablespoon coconut aminos 1 tablespoon avocado oil 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon garlic powder 2 teaspoons dried ground ginger ¼ cup bone broth 1 teaspoon honey 1 pound grass fed New York strip steak, cut into strips 2-3 cups chopped collard greens, stem removed 6 ounces sweet potato noodles 1 tablespoon coconut oil 2 carrots, julienned 5 ounces shiitake mushrooms, sliced 4 green onions, cut into 2 inch pieces # Instructions 1. Mix coconut aminos, avocado oil, vinegar, salt, garlic powder, and ginger in a small bowl. Take half of the mixture and combine with bone broth and honey and set aside. Toss the beef pieces in the other half of the mixture and allow to marinate while you prepare the vegetables and noodles. 2. In large saucepan or stock pot, bring water to boil. Boil the collard greens for 5 minutes, then remove and set aside. 3. In same water, boil noodles for 6 minutes, then drain and rinse with cold water. Toss with a little extra avocado oil to prevent from sticking. Set aside. 4. In a wok or large skillet over medium high heat, melt and heat coconut oil until shimmering. Add beef and stir fry until cooked through (about 3 minutes) then remove and set aside. Do not clean pan. 5. Add carrots, mushrooms, and green onions to same pan and stir fry until slightly soft (about 3 minutes). 6. Add noodles, greens, beef, and the sauce created in step one. ✨ Perspective ✨⠀ ⠀ This morning I woke up and walked my dog outside to find a man sharing our same complex outside smoking a cigarette. He immediately said hi and had this incredible energy about him. Without even prompting him he began to open up to me about his story. He said he trusted me. ⠀ ⠀ The story of how a month ago he had declared bankruptcy, lost his house and was homeless for 4 days. He talked about how you don’t truly know the feeling of needing companionship until you don’t have anyone who gets it. He said something that absolutely broke my heart. “I’ve now learned how to be friendly to everyone and make life simple. When I was homeless the only people who would acknowledge my existence or look my way were other homeless people. The people who used to be just like me were now looking down on me like I was scum.” ⠀ ⠀ Be careful how you speak and interact with others, especially those who you think are ‘different than you’. We are all guilty. This guy is now creating an amazing tech app for restaurants, dressed in nice clothes and one of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. If I would’ve seen him on the street- would I have given him the same courtesy of listening to his story? ⠀ ⠀ A reminder to myself just as much as you today to be nice to those whose struggle you don’t understand. The people on the streets, your enemies + exes and each person you encounter. We are all humans doing our best and learning every step of the way. ⠀
Now I have hesitated to share this, but here it is 😑👀 I was leery to share because... 1. I don't want to put my body out there. 2. I don't want weight to be the focus of what I do or rather I don't want being "skinny" being the focus. 3. Being "fit" or thin does not necessarily equal health and I don't want that confused. Soo with that said, this before and after is significant not only for me but for what I teach people. The one on the left was at the heaviest I've ever been. At the time I was happily loading up on white rice, fried indian foods, any ol' snack I wanted, cheese, paneer, bread and ice cream. After some time of that (and gaining something like 15-20 lbs) I started having some of my "old" symptoms -- neurological symptoms and then lots of anxiety. Not to mention bloating was a whole ordeal for me as you can well see in the pic! I always have been a thin gal so gaining weight that fast was a bit of a new thing, but it was all good at the time. I quite liked having the extra fluff for a minute. More curves! 💃🏾💃🏾 So that wasn't much of the issue. My health paid the price though and THAT became an issue. And the pic on the right is now after prolonged fasting, a vegan plant-based diet, detoxing, tons of fresh fruit and veg. Oh and no more white rice! 🌱🌱🌱 + the periodic workout, zumba, yoga or active meditation. If you don't feel good in your body, if you feel lethargic, sick, low energy, have strange symptoms then you may want to change a few habits. Whether you’re thin or a little fluffy -- health does not equal how you look on the outside. A person may be thin, toned, muscular and have a host of issues going on internally. One of the most frequently asked questions I receive is “what do you eat for breakfast if you can’t have eggs or grains?” 👉🏼lots of vegetables! I try my best to slice and dice my vegetables the night before to make it faster in the morning! 👉🏼the basics to each breakfast dish is onions, and mushrooms, then I’ll add whatever else is in the fridge. 👉🏼for a carb, I’ll add some diced up sweet potato 🍠 cooked in the Instant Pot! 👉🏼for a protein, if I have some left over chicken or organ meat, I’ll add that! 👉🏼our fat source will come from fresh avocado 🥑 or olives.
