We don't often share too much about Ty's autism because to us, he's just our Ty. But when we have proud moments, it's worth sharing once in a while.
See this red, white, and blue bracelet? Ty made this at school and he gave it to me as a gift. I was surprised and so touched, as if I received jewelry for the first time!
This bracelet may seem like a simple and easy craft for any other 10 year old kid, but for Ty, as a child with special needs, making this was a huge deal to me. I know it took some great effort for Ty to make something like this. But he did it and we're so proud that he felt proud of himself. He even said he chose these colors because it reminded him of the States, where we're from. I love that his rigid little mind is becoming more expressive. I know he misses the States sometimes because he has so many good memories from there but we're so proud at how well he's adjusted in Manila. -
Looking at this bracelet and seeing how excited he was to give it to me will always remind me of how far Ty has come since he was first diagnosed with ASD in kindergarten. He was so different then. We'll never forget those years of him going through different special needs therapy programs at home and switching him to different schools every year. He's experienced so much and has come a long way, even moving to another country! -
So that's why I share this little tidbit of our life. Our small victories mean so much to us. That's why this mommy wears this particular simple beaded arm candy made by her autistic son with so much pride! 😍 ✊
After every storm there is a rainbow & clear skies. ⛈🌈BIG things are happening for my little guy this week & I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone’s love & support.
People have come and said they admire our strength but in reality my husband & I have the strength to help our kids because of the support system we have. With out our family & friends picking us up when we need help we would not be where we are today & we would have given up when times got to hard. We are forever in debt to you all💗

This book was written by Paul’s Aunt Liz, who became my Aunt long before Paul & I got married. She is 1 of the strongest, caring & friendliest women I have ever met & instantly I felt like I gained another mother when I met her. This is her story of her faith, of cousin Gerard’s autism & how no matter what trials she goes through she will be ok because she has God in her life. I cannot express how much love & respect I have for her & all of Paul’s family for bringing me back to my faith & for teaching me the rosary & praying to the Blessed Mother Mary. Having been through hell myself in all of the trials I’ve faced(mostly in my previous relationship right before Paul) & then having Shane diagnosed with severe autism at 17 months & then a yr after that getting sick myself & being diagnosed with lupus, I know I’ve only made it through it all with God in my heart, but until I read this book I carried all of this pain & anxiety inside, full of blaming myself for Shane’s autism, that I was being punished for some past deed that Paul or I had committed, just feeling alone constantly & full of despair. Now I know that there is a reason for my suffering and I need to embrace it all. God has His reasons & His plans. Reading Aunt Liz’s words hit me like a ton of bricks. As much as her & I have talked about Gerard & Shane & autism over the years we’ve never talked about how WE were feeling on the inside. We both smile & laugh, cook & bake, & try to take care of everyone else in our lives but like she says in the book as a mom to an autistic child you just feel so alone inside. This book will completely change that feeling for you!!☺️💙 #blessedbyautism #trialsoflife #gowithgod #autism #autismawareness #autismmom #godisgreat #faith #elizabethnabet
