It’s a bit of a moody day today

🍷Clos Otto Shiraz 2015 - "Individual estate parcels, machine-harvested, destemmed and crushed, open-fermented with cultured yeast, 8 days on skins, matured in French oak (70% new) for 22 months, blended after 6 months in oak. An exotic bouquet with new shoe leather and a sprinkle of sultry spices, the full-bodied palate with supple blackberry fruits to the fore and an underlay of integrated French oak. There is a finesse to the overall texture, structure and flavour that is remarkable."

Upstairs Bar. Some of our Patrons were surprised to know that we have an upstairs bar, with three seperate spaces for private dining or functions. We have hosted a variety of shindigs over time upstairs, from lunches, private dinners, special birthdays, book launches, christenings, engagements... to name a few. We’re happy to tailor a menu or drink list to suit you. 🥂
At Tallarook, despite our vineyards size we choose to hand harvest. Why? Well the main advantage is the knowledge, skill and discernment of the worker to pick only healthy, ripe bunches throughout the vines and the gentler handling of the grapes.
You can smell the grill & the testosterone when you walk into Boulcott Street Bistro - heavenly!! 🔥🥩 My green peppercorn steak & boulangère potato bake was just the medicine I needed after a poorly week 🤧 The bottle of Torbreck Woodcutters Shiraz further enhanced my cold/flu medication to the point of absolute joy 🥴 Shiraz from the Barossa Valley, Australia is no shrinking violet, BIG powerful flavours with big powerful alcohol levels - usually around 14-15%, if not a bit more! Drink a little Aussie sunshine while in Wellington! 🍷🌞🍷
Fabulous to welcome Yoojin and her lovely parents from Hong Kong yesterday and even better to be able to share a little taste of the vineyard with them ✨ One of the many benefits of being a true estate winery is that we can duck out of Cella Door and take a bunch of grapes right off the vine for our guests (but please do note - this is a rare opportunity. Please never enter a vineyard without express permission!) 🍇

One of the best Syrah’s I had in a long time. This 2012 #passingcloudswinery
Shiraz was beautifully balanced, powerful and loaded with intense aromatics. We double decanted the wine which opened it up perfectly. My mum and dad cooked a wonderful meal, lamb rack, and the wine was a perfect match. Powerful, animating acidity, soft tannins, intense dark berry and cherry fruit. This all was finish with a beautiful herbal spice and the wine was singing, addictive. Well done Cameron and Graham Leith, your wine made us very happy 😊 🍷 #neverstoptasting #sommlife #enjoymentaficionado #passingcloudswinery #australianwine #syrah #shiraz #cam_leith
A couple of weeks ago the UK faced more snowfall. Another 'Beast From The East', they predicted. The snow did indeed come, in great abundance in some locations, but that didn't stop our jaunt North from happening.
It had been two years since my last visit and much had changed, but what I loved were the multitude of things that hadn't. Newcastle is a city set amongst a strikingly beautiful landscape, rich in culture and has a strong food scene, the latter which I thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself for the weekend. These photos are by no means exhaustive evidence of what was consumed.
The wine in the photo was an Australian nebbiolo: a beautifully aromatic wine with silky tannins, elegant offerings of soft oak, prunes and bitter chocolate. My love affair with Italian varietals from Australia continues. In fact, my only regret from the whole experience was that I didn't make a note of the name or producer. No problem though, it just means that to find out I shall have to return!
