I’ve been drawn to our lithographs by George Bellows lately - here he depicts a social gathering with his wife and their friends. Seated together (l-r) are Elsie Speicher, Emma Bellows, and Marjorie Henri. Gathered in the corner behind Elsie are their husbands, artists Robert Henri (in profile), Eugene Speicher (facing us), and Bellows himself (with his back to us). Henri had been both Speicher’s and Bellows’s teacher. While Bellows turns his back to us, he’s given his wife a particularly luminous quality.

Coastal Cleanup Day was this past Saturday! It brought @surfrider
volunteers from all over to join forces to show love 💙 and care to our beautiful coast. @surfriderla
collected 5,122 cigarette butts that would have otherwise eventually made it into the ocean 🌊. Thank you to all the amazing volunteers that make a difference. Join us for our next Chapter mixer at @hopdoddy
at Play Del Rey on Wednesday, September 26th at 7PM. #surfriderla #surfrider #coastalcleanupday
