“The stars are falling, the sky is fading, and the oceans run red with your people’s blood,” Thanos snarled. “Where are your heros now?” You spat blood in his face, watching in satisfaction as he hissed, wiping it away. “They will come. I have faith.” You looked out into the horizon. The city was deadly quiet, most of your kind either dead or left to rot away by the children of Thanos. “They will come,” you said firmly. At that point, you didn’t quite believe it yourself. Wouldn’t they have come by now? Thanos smirked, seeing the doubt reflected in your eyes. “And that precious Loki of yours? A little bird told me you were more than just friends.” You gave him a deadly look, a fire lighting up in your eyes. “You should’ve seen his face when I squeezed the life out of him,” he chuckled. Your eyes clouded over in pain, processing what Thanos had just said. “Loki….dead?” “Even better,” Thanos frowned, as if he were disappointed with your reaction. “Blown up to bits. Not even the best witch, like yourself, could save him.” You screamed. Your nails dug deep into the soft palms of your hands, clenched into fists. Quick as lightning, you lunged at Thanos without thinking. Knives appeared in your hands, bathed in a deadly red glow. He flicked you away with only one hand, calm as ever. He leaned over to where you laid, gasping for breath. You had hit a nearby boulder a few feet away, wincing. Warm liquid seeped through your thin shirt, spreading down your back. “Don’t worry. You’ll join him soon,” he whispered softly. “Go ahead,” you grunted, the words barely leaving your mouth. “My people are dead. Loki is dead. I can join them in peace.” Thanos laughed. “Of course not. That’d be too easy. I’ll just leave you here while I kill more of your people. Think of their suffering as a….lullaby.” He walked away, laughing as you sat and watched helplessly as he went to slaughter your people. Your vision faded in and out, but the more you tried to stay aware, the more you tired yourself out. “Just sleep,” a soothing voice in your head whispered. “You deserve a nice rest. You can see Loki soon. Sleep.” You closed your eyes, giving in to the voice. (continued in comments)

Thor skipped alongside you, eating his fifth pretzel of the day. “Midgard is so great,” he said gleefully. “I love these salty twists.” You turned to him, snapping pictures and laughing. “They’re called pretzels,” you said, “and you’ve eaten way too many today.” “Nonsense,” Thor replied. “You can never have too many pretzels.” It has been a long day of walking all around New York with your boyfriend. You had introduced him to the subway, taxis, Central Park, and his favorite so far, pretzels. Together, you had taken the ferry to the Statue of Liberty, and now you were walking to the Empire State Building. “So from this skyscraper we will be able to see all of New York?” Thor asked. His mouth was full of pretzel bits. “Pretty much,” you said.
An hour later, you had made it to the top of the Empire State Building. The wind whipped your hair as you looked out at your city. Thor leaned over and put an arm around your shoulders. “This is so amazing. New York is so amazing,” he said. You leaned your head on his shoulder and smiled contentedly. Thor kisses the top of your head lovingly. “You’re amazing,” you said. “You and the rest of this beautiful city.” -
