I’m sharing a little tidbit of my life and the amount of thought that goes into small decisions. My son is a pirate and this is his preferred outfit for all occasions. Unfortunately, this company switched the color of the sleeves and the lining of the hat and my son wants nothing to do with imposter outfit. For school we usually have a struggle picking out shirts and he’s getting increasingly focused on what the shirt can have and if it’s pirate enough. So moving forward I have a lot of choices to make. 🏴☠️ What is the harm in being a pirate? It doesn’t hurt anyone and he feels better. Who am I to tell him what to wear? When he’s an adult he’ll be picking out his own clothes too. But what if his focus becomes more narrowed to where it is only one specific shirt he wears and I can’t get another one? What happens when he grows out of this costume? Am I already disrupting so many other things in his life that it’s forcing him to cling to a tighter focus?
I’m not looking for answer here as much as showing what goes into planning. It’s detailed. I’m already strategizing how to explain what we do if we see something we like but it doesn’t come in our size.
I may never have all of the right answers or feel like I know what I’m doing all the time, but I can at least rest my head at night knowing I’ve put a great amount of thought and effort into my child’s happiness.
This hangs in my office, a small but significant reminder. I am prepared at a moment's notice to "...hoist the black flag..."! I don't know when the time will come that I need to be politically incorrect, go against the norm, or choose not to compromise but I'm ready.

I'm starting to look like a comic book villain...
The vwtdict: a scratch on the cornea, right in my field of vision. Apparently the edges are 'loose' and there's a a risk of it getting worse if I'm not careful, so...rest, a truckload of ointment, and absolutely under no circumstances rub my eye.
If I'm ucky it will heal in a few days, if I'm unlucky...a lot longer.
Team Lost at Sea came out to try their very first #escaperoom this evening. They took on Pirate Paul in #piratespizzasof8 and with some great team work and a few extra minutes they were able to #escapeconfusion . Way to go team!

Team Lost Boat came out to try to #escapeconfusion this evening. This was their very first #escaperoom and they decided to take on Pirate Paul in #piratespizzasof8 . They may have needed just a few minutes more but they did a great job! Way to go team!
I caved and decided to antique the skull and crossbones coaster... And I regret nothing.

To celebrate reaching my reading goal for the year I thought my 80th book of 2018 should be a good one. If you want a non fiction read about some BAD ASS women, this book is for you. I LOVED reading about how these women defied society’s ideas for them and chased their freedom. Interesting how female pirates are left out of history by men who feared them and their ideals. Clearly these ladies were doing something right. #apirateslifeforme#drinkupmeheartiesyoho#bookstagram
