I've started a new mandala using only my new Holbein colour pencils. 👍 It's half the size of the previous mandala but I think I might prefer working at this size. The big ones can get a bit tiresome when it comes to filling in the edges. I found the Holbeins to be a bit gummy when colouring on paper and pressing on a hard surface, but they are almost greasy now because I'm colouring on card while pressing on three layers of card. So on a softer surface they lay down really smooth and glossy with an unrivaled intensity of colour. I'm loving them so much! It's important to understand that our minds can sometimes be our own bullies.  The Mind Bully can seem very strong because it says very upsetting things that we automatically believe. It then tries to pull us into the great pit of fear and despair so we automatically pull harder on the rope to stop us being dragged into the pit. This tug-of-war is constant and exhausting. The harder we pull, the harder the it pulls. If we feed the bully by spending time and energy on it we often make it even bigger and stronger. By listening and paying attention to the monster, by believing the monster, and by reacting to the monster - by how we feel and what we do. So, if we could let go of the rope, what would happen? The monster would still be there, saying what it says, but it would have no power to pull us towards the great pit. As we stop feeding the bully, gradually he will get weaker, smaller and quieter. Let go of the rope by: Notice and acknowledge the mind bully Don't believe everything you think! Felt a bit anxious for the day today... Slept very little due to my mind being awake. My normal drive to the gym is full of music i enjoy but today i drove in silence. Sorting my thoughts, taking deep breaths and setting my intentions for the day. (Thank you @namastay.wild.n.free ) Remembering my goals and my new phrase.. "headed for greatness"!! Started my workout and began feeling better. Started slow but picked up speed rather quickly! Working on my back muscles followed by a quick core workout. Seated rows, standing rows, and various pull downs. With crunches, "wheels", and pikes for core. And of course my walk up the never ending incline treadmill! Couldnt manage to get a good back picture so i asked a friend @robbiesic Love how these @1stphorm shirts fit! I love how the gym has become such a big part of my life. It truely has become my unofficial medicine! Learning new things from new contacts, reading online and just talking with people at the gym! Decaf coffee drinkers, what’s your favorite brand? I 💜💜💜 coffee, but realized the caffeine was messing up my days. The highs, lows, and anxiety it produced was just too annoying. I switched to decaf and all of those issues went away! I wake up with energy, fall asleep as my head hits the pillow, and the tiny bit of anxiety that is just part of my DNA is completely managed with magnesium (wonder supplement!) The only problem now is finding good decaf, as choices are so limited. Suggestions??

Did you know that being self-compassionate can reduce the intensity of your emotions? Let me show you how. Imagine you have a child. Let's call him Tim. Tim comes back from school and you notice that he is very upset. He tells you that he did not manage to get the maximum score on a test. How would you react? Would you say to your child strong words like failure, stupid or incapable? If you do, how do you think he would feel? Better, the same or worse? What about if you continue to say those words to him on a daily basis on number of occassions when he makes little and nevertheless human mistakes? Would you then continue to say those words to him? I would assume that your answer is no. You see, we don't usually say those negative words to our loved ones, but we don't mind saying them to ourselves. We face challenges on a daily basis and often react to them with self-criticism which increases our emotional distress. Aren't we dealing with enough already? How would adding an extra layer of self-judgement make things better? Replacing it with a layer of self-compassion, however, can contribute to distress tolerance. So next time you notice your self-critical thoughts, ask yourself that question: ''What would I say to my child if he/she was in that situation?'' A lot of people think I’m crazy when I say I remember my mom carrying me in utero, but really I’m serious. Much of my moms pregnancy with me was stressed. I can hear the yelling and fighting. My mom was in and out of jail. She even lost my siblings because she was unsafe. I experienced that episode “inside”. In my sleep I can still sometimes hear her yelling. I am 24 and noises scare the heck out of me. I watch movies on silent and read the subtitles. For the longest time I slept in an awkward fetal position, somehow it felt safer than all sprawled out. A couple weeks ago in a counseling session I was told a very similar story about another person and for the first time in my life I felt heard. I felt understood. Life is precious and it is so fragile. It needs to be protected.”. . . . Crazy how different our experiences can be... here we see the truth behind how what happens to a baby’s mother while he/she is still in the womb, can have a massive affect on the child after he/she is born! 😭💛

☀️ Just me, trying to soak up a bit of vitamin D in the dead of winter ❄️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Vitamin D will forever be a struggle for us Canadians, especially in the winter time. Furthermore, it’s a struggle for those of us with a VDR genetic mutation, which means we genetically have a harder time creating vitamin D from the sunlight ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Vitamin D is actually a hormone, and It plays a big role in your metal health and well-being. Being deficient in it can also worsen period pain and PMS! And for those who are on or coming off the pill, you may be at even higher risk for a deficiency! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The best way to absorb vitamin D is obviously through your skin from the sun, but that’s not always possible for some of us (👋🏼 hi my #nightshift #nurse sisters). Intrusive thoughts come from protective parts that live in your psyche. These parts have developed roles to protect vulnerable parts called exiles that carry pain from childhood. When you can understand that intrusive thoughts are coming from a fearful, protective part of you, you no longer have to be pulled into the storm of anxiety. I just left my dentist and got my new Invisalign trays and I’m officially halfway through my treatment plan which means by end of Spring I’m going to have white straight teeth for the first time in my life which is super exciting for me. # I’ve been thinking lately about habit and how habit either makes or breaks us. It has become habit to have these trays in my mouth 22 hours a day to work. It’s a daily thing. One day off will get me off track but not totally derail me. But if I am consistent and do what I’m supposed to, my lifetime goal of white, straight teeth is achieved. * It’s the same as my health and weight loss journey. I can either lean all the way in and make little tiny decisions daily like avoiding sweet treats, too many carbs or processed foods and eating enough greens, fruits, drinking enough water and exercising and following a workout schedule made for me or skipping workouts because I’m busy and prioritize other things. # It’s the daily little decisions we make that add up to reaching our goals or falling short. I don’t know about you but I’m tired of falling short so it’s that time to level up and push daily. Making excuses will never get me there. Being unshakeable in my promise myself to reach my fitness, financial (and straight teeth 🤣) goals is the only way to get there. So here’s to habit and being your own keeper of goals and promises to yourself. * Happy Monday! ❤️❤️❤️
