Ant-Man and the Wasp. 2018 (Cinema)
A FUN LITTLE ADVENTIURE LIKE ITS PREDECESSOR?
Ant-Man was a real surprise for me. It came from nowhere really and it was an enjoyable fun experience, so when i heard it was getting a sequel i thought it might be up my street. Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) who is Ant-Man, also has a sidekick in this one called, The Wasp (Evangeline Lily) who's human character is Hope van Dyne from the first movie. I thought this could be just the ticket for this second installment, with Ant-Man having a partner and all and for the most part it worked. The chemistry on screen is really good, infact it is between all the movies' characters. Comedic jokes bouncing off one another in typical Marvel style, some of which i found absolutley hilarious! However the story is a bit of a let down. It sees Hope searching for her mother with the help of her father Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) who is lost in some sort of quantum realm. Meanwhile, Scott Lang is dragged into the middle of it. We also have non-memorable villains trying to get hold of Dr. Pym's lab secrets. One of these is Ava (Hannah John-Kamen) who needs access to his lab to help with a ghost-like disease she has, which is going to kill her, but also makes her a stealth weapon. The story is really all over the place. If your gonna throw a load of different story elements into a movie please execute it alot better than this. That being said, i enjoyed Ant-Man and the Wasp. Maybe not as much as the first but it's still a fun experience like most of the Marvel movies out there. Look out for an after credit easter egg too which was a nice twist.
Fun Fact : The film's title is not shown on screen until the end credits.
Best Moment : The action packed car chase near the end of the film.
