There is something so wholesome about procuring herbs and greens from the garden to cook with. The okra and the black pepper are from the neighbours garden, the garlic from the local vegetable farmer. REAL FOOD, MOSTLY (but not exclusively) PLANTS 🌱 This is what I believe our digestive systems were designed to process, what gives us the best nourishment and what our bodies thrive on. Real food is what I call the stuff we can find in nature. If you look at food this way you’ll realize that most of the so called “foods” that have been invented in the past century aren’t “Real food”. They call themselves food but we survived for millions of years without them and they are what are making a lot of people sick. Of course, our bodies are amazing and will adapt and “cope” with most of the things we put inside them, even when it’s full of 💩... but is that a good reason to fuel ourselves with crap? I don’t think so 🤔 And it didn’t hit home with me until I got sick. I used to believe that the key to feeling good was eating “everything in moderation” and being mindful of my calorie intake. I thought food was food and that it didn’t really matter where it came from as long as it had “good macros”. But after being diagnosed with IBS & Candida (and having my PCOS symptoms get out of control and losing my hair and having acne) I realized that all foods aren’t created equal and that it’s not just a question of macros. It’s a question of how natural/unnatural our food is and the life it went through before reaching our plate. Now my diet consists almost exclusively of “real food, mostly plants” and my symptoms have all disappeared, my skin is clearer, my digestion is better, my energy levels are high BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY I no longer have a screwed up relationship with food. I no longer have cravings that drive me crazy 🤯 I no longer feel dependent on sugar and I no longer binge. I no longer obsess over calories, macros or eating times. I just eat real food when I’m hungry and I stop when I feel full. Isn’t this how we were designed to eat? 🤔 What do you think? Have you checked out my TEDx on this subject? Today my acne is dry, itchy and inflamed. Thanks to my lifestyle and routine my skin feels clean, firm and smooth but I still have breakouts twice a month as I work on detoxing my liver and balancing my hormones. This is why I've spent so much time learning about the contributors to acne and inflammation in the body. 〰️ Last night I asked you all what the best thing you ever did for your skin was. The answers didn't surprise me and were in alignment with everything I've read or personally experienced. The most recurring responses were: • Quitting wheat / gluten • Quitting dairy / all animal products • Drinking more water • Using no products or washing your face less! 〰️ The cure doesn't lie in expensive products or treatments, especially not in harsh "acne" products that are a total marketing sham. For most of us the solution will be in what we STOP doing to our skin. 〰️ Less refined foods, less saturated fat, less synthetic hormones (birth control), less bovine growth hormones (cow milk), less hot water, less soap, less makeup, and less disruptions to the natural balance of our gut health, sex hormones or bacteria on our skin. 〰️ It's easy to want to quickly mask a breakout or erase it with steroid creams, it takes more patience to look inwards at your overall health and wellbeing to heal from the inside out. 🌿

I will walk all week to start letting my body get used to the aching thats coming. I will be following the running plan i found in pinterest and see if it works. My first super summer salads workshop was this morning, and I reckon it went pretty well. i was in my happy place thats fer shure! There was a nasty finger slicing moment, but after some rapidly applied first aid (thanks Nina!) it all ended well. Thankyou to my beautiful helper Charlotte, who greeted, made coffees, cleared plates and did dishes like a boss! We assembled 4 salads, talked about the importance of fibre and a plant based diet, ate, drank and laughed. I hope all 11 participants walked away with something valuable. Thanks @tastesoflizzyt for the fish batter recipe! 2 eggs 1/4 cup coconut flour 3/4 cup tapioca starch 1/4 cup sparkling water 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon garlic powder (I used this as a substitute for garlic salt that I didn’t have) 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Brushed air fryer pan with EVOO. Cooked at 400 for 10 minutes then flipped the fillets over and cooked for another 7 minutes. Since I’ve been on the paddison program to heal my Rheumatoid Arthritis I have had such enormous progress! A few days ago I tested pumpkin by adding it to my creamy bowl of buckwheat. It tasted so good and I had no reactions from it! I am so glad that I am going to be able to eat pumpkin this Christmas as I did not get it over Halloween and thanksgiving! I whipped up this super easy dairy-free and anti-inflammatory Creamy Butternut Squash, Carrot, and Ginger soup for a delicious, nutrient dense, and warm dinner. The best part is that it only took about 30 minutes to make start to finish, leaving me plenty of time to study for my last final exam 🙌. . In my soup: butternut squash cubes (I used frozen), carrots, yellow squash, garlic, onion, fresh ginger, @bonafideprovisions broth, lemon juice, cashews soaked overnight, turmeric, coriander, cumin, black pepper. Blended and topped with balsamic drizzle and @ggfiber cracker crumbles for crunch 👌 . This anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting soup is rich in beta-carotene (a precursor to vitamin A which is needed for proper immune function), vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants.
