The Social Network (2010)
A Scene Analysis: You froze our account. (The relationship between dialogue and visual storytelling.)
As you guys know, Aaron Sorkin and David Fincher are two of the best in the business and this scene is a prime example why.
First we get Christy being pissed off at Eduardo and he’s doing his best to avoid her and then he gets the call from Mark who is furious at him but Eduardo is not going to back down to him. He’s taking shit from Christy and Mark and then Christy lights the fire in the trash can and it seems Eduardo can’t catch a break whether it be through the conversations he’s having or what he’s having to deal with physically.
This is where Sorkin and Fincher work so well. Right when Eduardo puts out the fire, that’s when Mark tells him he has good news. Such a beautiful metaphor of having to deal with your problems first before you can receive good news.
I find this soon to be a little ironic because when Mark says Facebook doesn’t crash ever, it’s funny because a few weeks ago Instagram and Facebook did crash so apparently, it can crash.
You guys already know what I think about this movie.
