Wasn't looking forward to this at all because of burpees. Then I crushed it and since I did well I decided I like that workout. Built up to a 2RM power clean of 195. Tried 205 and failed. Took a few tips from @ryanfisch and incorporating more unilateral movements to increase strength has helped push me so much more and actually helped keep me injury free. Don’t get me wrong doing the explosive stuff is where the guns at but if you don’t increase strength on the muscles that stabilize you then you’re just asking for trouble. Perfect the small stuff and increase the big stuff 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

I went for a rep Pr of 8 with 405lbs . I haven’t deadlifted in two weeks and I’m happy to say that my strength is still there 🤘🏾. Now the videoing is over, I can go down to my actual working sets 😅 . Rest day for me today but every time I walk in the garage those kettlebells are like little kids"Hey!! Pick me up!" Bottoms Up Squats with Double 24kg(53lbs) kettlebells. Almost got 2! 1st time to play w/ the Trap bar in years during this training cycle 😮. Didn’t feel like doing 2 more sets of 7x, so I just lumped them together for 14x lol 😅. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ This gave me the idea of incorporating more AMRAPs into future Higher Volume weeks. AMRAPs are good for accumulating training volume and inducing a higher stress stimulus, but because of the higher stress, should be done on occasion. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ It’s also important to know when to stop/continue to push for reps. “Grinding out a rep” is a skill but only when technique is mostly maintained. I’m not a big fan of pushing through movements at the expense of technical breakdown - especially when fatigue is the causing factor. Risk of injury is increased, bad movement/compensatory patterns are incorporated, and the only thing going up is your ego🙅🏽‍♂️. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ Therefore, save AMRAPs for exercises you’re familiar with. 💥LANDING MECHANICS💥 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ The box jump is a fantastic and easy way to teach hip extension and improve explosiveness. It’s common to increase the height of the box and attempt jumping as high as possible. In many cases, this is not necessary. More so what is necessary, especially for athletes or any weekend warriors who partake in any kind of sports activities, is the landing aspect of the jump. So let’s think outside the BOX...see what I did there? ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ When we can jump 40” off the ground but have not trained our bodies to land from 40” off the ground, we can set ourselves up for a higher risk of injury. SO, what can we do? We can train our bodies to absorb the landing through some drills. Most injuries occur during deceleration, or when we are attempting to absorb force from a movement, such as a change of direction in sport, or reacting to get out of the way of a car! Train your body in as many ways as possible within your means and capabilities. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Remember, DON’T SKIP. MODIFY!
