Be transparent. Admit when you don’t know, but ALWAYS be open and willing to learn.
2019 found us where else...offcourse in India!! 😁
Saying goodbye here to a crazy year, definately the most fullfilling of my life.
Being gratefull every single second for all that this year gave me and god, they were alot. .
Now its time to look forward. Its time to stay and practice where yoga originated and be humbled (or atleast try).
Always a student. 🙏
In one of those many many lifetimes... ✨🕉
Y’all may not know this about me, but I’ve started and dropped out of 3 Master’s programs. The first because I had a professional direction change of heart, the next because I couldn’t balance motherhood, full time work, and school, and the third because I was deep in depression and heart break, and just couldn’t get it together.
Here we are first week of classes. #lifelonglearner #alwaysastudent #projectgetyoishtogether
We waste so much energy trying to cover up who we are when beneath every attitude is the want to be loved, and beneath every anger is a wound to be healed and beneath every sadness is the fear that there will not be enough time.
When we hesitate in being direct, we unknowingly slip something on, some added layer of protection that keeps us from feeling the world, and often that thin covering is the beginning of a loneliness which, if not put down, diminishes our chances of joy.
It’s like wearing gloves every time we touch something, and then, forgetting we chose to put them on, we complain that nothing feels quite real. Our challenge each day is not to get dressed to face the world but to unglove ourselves so that the doorknob feels cold and the car handle feels wet and the kiss goodbye feels like the lips of another being, soft and unrepeatable. ― Mark Nepo
Straight fire 🔥, I hung onto every word, the way you compiled everything was well constructed. Learned a lot, still learning.
Homestead Act of 1862 the culture, heritage, resources, and land was stripped away from the Aboriginal people of America, aka Blacks, before our identity has been changed, that's why we are in the state we are in.
Today it started to come out of my mouth while teaching that one of the things that differentiates @amyoga111
’s teaching is that we don’t teach to what you can’t do, we teach to what you can and build. That the teaching comes from people are capable and powerful and the practice helps to wake themselves up to that.
I used to think I can’t and that I wasn’t strong enough. It shows up still sometimes. But when it does, I’m reminded of my practices with my teacher @baronbaptisteyoga
and how he was just a stand for my capability and power. He taught without a doubt that I could and would ask me to go a little further (fuck sometimes a lot further) with the intention for me to wake up to me.
He has never taken any credit.
It’s because he’s wise, knows what the practice is up to and understands that it only works because I do the work. And for that I get to wake up to my own power.
Tonight in my own practice at the studio I went all in. And it worked. As always.
for the greatest teaching I could pass on: people are powerful, capable and they do the work. ❤️
Every once in awhile I need a reminder 🙌
got me a name tag. It’s multicam and IR reflective for when I need to go on night ops to the kitchen for some more chicken nug nugs and soda pop. Extra dipping sauce cause this is America. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Because everybody is doing it, 29 vs. 39, fun in Málaga vs. fun in Aruba.
Back then I met a lot of new people, all about partying and making friends, enjoying life to the fullest, especially a few months after being in a car accident. I felt stronger than ever before, like nothing could get me. Despite having trouble walking I was so grateful for being alive, and to have only minor injuries.
Now I am happy spending time alone, staying at home, just taking it easy. The changes I've been through have not much to do with my appearance. Still dealing with discomforts of the accident, but finally accepting that some of the instabilities in my neck and back will never get back to normal and will stay weak spots in my body.
What is the same now and then? Then I just started working and finished my first substitute teacher job, as I recently graduated as a teacher. I was looking for jobs in the Netherlands and abroad. From studying to the work force. Everything was possible.
Now I am looking into working more for myself, exploring what my possibilities are outside of the school. It is time for a change again, time for a new adventure🙏🏾🤗💖

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” I have found when people start talking to me about starting yoga they say things like, “But I dont look like you when I practice yoga.” My response is always, “Well good, you shouldn’t look like me when practicing yoga, you should look like YOU when practicing yoga.” It cannot be a comparison (been there done that)when it is a personal practice. When practicing with Nate it made me think.... he said “should my heels be touching the ground in this posture?” I said “NO your heels should be right where they are! “ My advice is to just show up to your mat with an open heart and an open mind, and without any preconceived idea about how you “should” look. Let it be exactly what it is.... then keep showing up! Then watch as YOUR practice grows, evolves, and transforms into exactly what you need it to be. This video shows two perfectly imperfect yoga practices. Be Happy and proud of where you are and learn to love the process. “Comparison with myself brings improvement, comparison with others brings discontent” P.s. @n.l.shaw
I am stoked at your dedication, and so proud of you for showing up more consistently.... I think you are a badass!!! 😘😘❤️❤️❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
We’ll be kicking off our 300 Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with international Yoga Teacher @catmccarthyyoga
this March! Join us for a full week-long immersion to work toward advanced certification (500RYT), or CE credit through Yoga Alliance, or for students who just want to take their practice deeper and learn more. March 9th-15th: Embodied Anatomy & the Art of Touch. I felt the need to train my brain with patterns today. I am not the largest fan of patterns with my arms. Even when I was in Ballet growing up, I’d always have the wrong arm up. I know now that this is a disconnect in my brain and, to me, I feel it’s a huge void. Like, it makes me primally angry to move my arms in a specific formal pattern (the automatic part of me) and I have to constantly remind myself I’m not under some sort of attack. This is my choice, and it’ll get better soon. My mind fights it so hard that even when I get a move, I’m still super annoyed. This will change. I’m not saying I don’t have fun, I laugh at the absurdity of my nervous system and snarky amygdala. My head goes “I’ll put my damn arms wherever I feel best, thank you very fucking much”... such childish arms. So when I get all flustered I just move and think about joint movements. My posterior shoulder girdle is weak, a bit blind, but today I finally let some other muscles stop taking over and really got activation back there. Flowed with mace for about 40 minutes, then I decided to do a 40 minutes @butiyoga
who is.... ah so blissful of a person. Intensified core for 10 min, and finished with pull ups. It didn’t feel long, or too much. Just, what my body and mind needed today. I am fighting myself mentally about a couple things...... sometimes the battle needs to be had.

Word on the street is, if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. And we’re definitely here for that 😏😎
Forever a student.
The more I learn within life
and within the practice of yoga, and the more I study, read, practice, observe, and listen — the more I see just how little I and we, really know.
A tip of an iceberg in an ocean🌊
of wisdom and knowledge.
The journey is never over. .
Always thankful for the lifelong path of inquiry and am forever humbled by this wondrous and complex adventure of yoga and life. Endlessly humbled, grateful, and honored to learn and share this walk together, xxo .
✨”As teachers we have a tremendous responsibility to show up fully and honestly, letting go of formulas and misconceptions while simultaneously observing patterns and drawing new conclusions. Trusting the process. Beneath it all we always remain students: practicing, studying, experimenting, inquiring, relearning, and then practicing some more. It is a great honor to teach yoga.” ✨ Richard Freeman & Mary Taylor, .

I’m super excited to announce that I will be attending the Amala School of Yoga‘s prenatal and postnatal teacher training starting next week! I’m very much looking forward to gaining confidence and skills to be able to support women at all stages of pregnancy through yoga, in addition to yoga therapy, Ayurveda and so much more. And if it’s like YTT, it will definitely be so. much. more. The training consists of a few intensive weekends over the next few months, and come September, I’ll hopefully be a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher!

OKAY first off, major ladies man here 😉
Second, adjusting is my FAVE. And teaching it to others is close to my heart! I love that I’m in a position of confidence and certainty that I can explain how/why/what I’m doing while I serve. AND I love knowing that the knowledge and leaders out there are endless and vast and I still have SO much to learn myself! ❤️

On teaching yoga...
Yoga gives you the freedom to explore what you’re capable of - mind, body and spirit. .
For that, I’ll always be a student. 🙏🏽👁🙏🏽
Awww! Arbonne came out with a cake flavored protein powder, just for my birthday! (Okay, okay, not really, but a girl can dream!) This protein powder is our new formulation- NON GMO project verified and cleaner than ever with less sugar, more fiber and maltodextrin-free. WHO WANTS CAKE FOR BREAKFAST? 🎂🥳
I've been fortunate to spend the last four days studying with @thaiyogamassage
In addition to learning therapeutic Thai #abdominalmassage
and working with scarfs as a tool, we also learnt #khoodt
(Thai medicine name), more commonly known as #scraping
, or #guasha
in Chinese medicine. It's a technique used in #traditionalmedicine
throughout Asia. 😮
Of course, I'm not going to recommend scraping as a treatment without trying it myself so this is the results on my own back. I needed scraping (for various reasons) but not everyone does and in which case there would be no #petechiae
(Western medical name for the redness you see). 💥
I would always do a full consultation with a client before even suggesting or trying scraping. ☑️💯📜
Studies have shown that scraping dramatically increases superficial blood circulation, so you can see how tight or sore areas might benefit from this work. It helps the body with its regular process of eliminating toxins and brings a flood of nutrients to the scraped area. Scraping has anti-inflammatory and immune - boosting effects. ❤️
I'm always happy to talk more about the therapeutic applications and benefits of what I do with anyone who is interested. ☎️✉️
You can book an appointment with me in Barcelona or London via the link to my FB page in my bio 🖕
And what 'magic' tool do I use for this work? A ceramic spoon! 🥄😂

We all have our stories which play a HUGE part of HOW we respond to life. They can either hold us back or drive us to make the rest of our lives the best of our lives. How I hope we all learn how to dance in the rain ☔️ 💃🏻
A new class for me at Café Mila. Beginners yoga. I’m so pleased to be teaching this - it’s made me revisit the basics of my own practice. It’s made me listen to myself as I teach - I use so much jargon and I take too much for granted.
The course sold out very quickly (only 14 spaces) but I’ll do more if you’re interested in either starting yoga or going back to the basic shapes and philosophy that underpins our practice. .
