Common misconception about alters in DID and OSDD systems
People tend to believe that having multiple personalities living inside one body must mean there are two people who are the exact opposite of one another. They often think of the person they met first at the nice, caring and loving one and that for the other one has to be rude and mean and selfish. While this might be true for some systems, this isn't always the case. Actually, some alters might be very similar to each other! Not only in how they treat you but in there whole identity.
Alters are real people with their own sense of self, self-image, experiences, memories, emotions, character traits, opinions, sensations, wishes, fears, likes and dislikes. For some alters in a system a lot of those things might overlap. That does not mean they are not two different people.
Having many things in common and being very similar to your friend doesn't somehow make the two of you the same person. The same goes for alters. Because we are actual people.
