The pH of the blood is the MOST important number in your body, yet how many doctors are talking with you about it? . Sugar in all its forms, even in most fruit, creates ACID & INFLAMMATION! . Most fruits 🍊 contain a lot of sugar, and the most damaging kind known as FRUCTOSE. . Does this mean you shouldn’t eat any fruit? NO! Because fruit is beautiful, and also provides a lot of good stuff too, such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber. . The problem comes with FRUIT JUICE, in regards to the high SUGAR and FRUCTOSE levels (Orange Juice included)! . Unlike fruit, the fiber has been REMOVED, leaving nothing but the sugar, which is highly ACIDIC and INFLAMMATORY to your body! . Did you know that a glass of orange juice is as ACIDIC as a can of soda - this is the LAST thing we should be feeding our kids)! . In fact, in some instances, drinking some OJ may even be WORSE than a can of pop (well, not really but hear my point)… . For example, orange juice has 18 grams of fructose per ounce, compared to that of a can of soda, which has 1.7 grams per ounce. . A single 12-ounce glass of O.J. contains an incredible 9 teaspoons of sugar, about the same as a 12 ounce can of Coke! . This equates to 36 grams of carbs, about half of what you should consume in a day. . You see, a glass of OJ is NOT equivalent to 4 oranges – it is equivalent to the SUGAR of 4 oranges! . Check this - If a person were to drink just ONE glass of orange juice every day, that would mean that they would be consuming an extra 3,285 teaspoons (close to 70 cups) of sugar in a year or about 53,000 extra calories! . If you do drink juice (which you should - but not OJ), stick to homemade, cold-pressed juices made from GREEN vegetables and low-sugar fruits. . Knowing the pH of your food and drink is CRITICAL to your health! . The pH scale runs from 0 to 14, Where is 0 is pure acid, that can burn a hole through metal, 14 is pure alkaline, and that’s not good either. . Completely pure water has a pH of 7, which is neutral. The lower the number on the scale, the more acidic the substance is. . The higher the number on the scale, the more basic, or alkaline, the substance is. . Substances that are extremely acidic or basic tend to be corrosive, or burn-causing. . The scale is logarithmic, meaning that it is based on tens (like the Richter scale). Thus, a substance with a pH of 4 (like coffee) is 10 times more acidic than a substance with a pH of 5 (like a banana). . Now here is where it gets tricky and confusing. When evaluating if a food is alkaline or acidic, or good or bad for your body, we don’t care with the food does OUTSIDE your body... All we care about is what that food does INSIDE your body! . In other words, is it alkaline-forming, or acid-forming, and there are 3 indicators that we use to determine that - MINERALS, FIBER, & SUGAR. . For example, what’s the difference b/w lemons and vinegar? Both of these ingredients have an acidic pH of 2, which makes it 100,000 times more acidic than tap water! . If you have a cut on your skin, BOTH would burn. However, one is highly ALKALINE-FORMING, and the other is highly ACID-FORMING - which is which? . Vinegar is high in sugar & yeast, which makes it an acidic nightmare! . Lemons are high in minerals, high in fiber, & low in sugar, making it a powerful alkalizer, detoxifier, and anti-inflammatory! . No matter how many times I say it, this just isn’t true! . . Let’s look at mother nature’s examples. Babies need as much or more protein as any human. And get this, breast milk – considered nature’s perfect food for babies – only has about 5% protein. . . Compare that to your standard plate of food for older children and adults! It’s often 30 to 50% protein. That’s 10 times what mother nature tells us we need! . . It’s also DOUBLE to TRIPLE what the Centers for Disease Control tells us adults should eat. WHAT IS INTERMITTENT FASTING (IF)? . It is NOT a diet, but rather a dieting pattern based on what I call ‘Time Restrictive Feeding’. It’s NOT about deprivation or calorie restriction either! . It is a type of scheduled eating plan where you adjust your normal daily eating period to a 6 or 8 hour-long window of time without cutting calories... . And in the 16 hour ‘fasting’ period, you are hydrating with water with organic lemon slice, drinking herbal teas, and green juices (no fruit). You can even drink coffee with MCT or coconut oil (if you so choose the latter) . With IF, you are mimicking how our ancestors used to live, which was FEAST and FAMINE . They NEVER ate every 2 hours, otherwise known as GRAZING. . This way of eating increases insulin levels, stores fat, and creates inflammation . GOAL of IF – transition your body FROM burning sugar for fuel TO burning its fat stores. . Diet Goal – increase healthy fats and dark green vegetable intake / decrease net carbs to under 50g/day . For most people, it is the complete opposite. They eat sugar and carbs, and therefore, they are BURNING sugar, which is a dirty and inflammatory fuel. . During the ‘fasted state’ (16 hours) your body doesn’t have a recently consumed meal to use as energy, so it is more likely to pull from the fat stored in your body, rather than the glucose in your blood stream or glycogen in your muscles/liver. . Cow’s milk has twenty times more casein than human milk and is poorly digested and very damaging to the human immune system. . The average American typically consumes close to 630 pounds of dairy products per year (milk, yogurt, cheese, and ice cream), which makes it the single largest component of the Standard American Diet! . Contrary to marketing claims, drinking cow’s milk doesn’t have significant health benefits. In fact, cow’s milk is the number-one allergy of children! . It was not designed for children and adults; it was designed for cows (think about how much an infant grows in one year, compared to that of a calf)! Humans are the only species that consumes another mammal’s breast milk after weaning. Cows don’t even drink cow’s milk after weaning! . Most dairy products are made from milk of cows that feed on grains and are loaded with pro-inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids and other acidic hormones and pesticide residues. . Additionally, dairy products contain the sugar lactose, which like all sugars, is highly acid forming. The body converts lactose into lactic acid, which acidifies blood and tissues, ultimately PULLING calcium from your bones and magnesium from your muscles, while your body is hard at work to neutralize the acid. . Because of its high lactose and phosphorous content, your body needs to buffer it with even more internal calcium (from your body) than you get from the milk itself. .
