The pH of the blood is the MOST important number in your body, yet how many doctors are talking with you about it? . This number is so important, that if it deviates by more than - point, you DIE...so it’s something we SHOULD be talking more about! . Blood pH is tightly regulated in a narrow range between 7.35 and 7.45, with the ideal pH resting at 7.4. . Your body will do whatever it takes to keep that number steady because if it deviates, you can’t survive. . So you might be asking, if my blood pH is always self-regulated at 7.4 and can’t change much, WHY do I need to worry about it - WHY do I need to eat an alkaline diet? . It’s the holiday weekend, and some of you (or many) may choose to indulge in a drink(s) - so I thought I’d lead you in the right direction! . You probably know that alcohol is acidic, but did you know that not all alcohol is created equal? . It’s true. And today, I’m going to let you in on the simple swaps you can make if you want to drink! . So, it’s a good idea if you’re going to drink to try to minimize the acid (and fungal load as you will soon find out). . Less acid means less of a hangover in the morning, more energy, and a decreased chance of getting sick within the next few days. . The worst? BEER! And why? Trying some new products to see if they can help out with my super acidic belly! I’m on day 7 of green tea with jasmine instead of coffee so one week in seems like the perfect time to layer on new protein and vitamins. My body is definitely adjusting to the lack of, or extremely minimal levels, of sugar, dairy and wheat. I’m on day three with a headache and my muscles are incredibly achey. Definitely that hit-by-a-bus kinda feeling 😴😣 but, the long term goal is significantly less bloat, less acidic/angry belly, less constant fatigue and sluggishness, and less nausea and 🚽 trips. Knowing the pH of your food and drink is CRITICAL to your health! . The pH scale runs from 0 to 14, Where is 0 is pure acid, that can burn a hole through metal, 14 is pure alkaline, and that’s not good either. . Completely pure water has a pH of 7, which is neutral. The lower the number on the scale, the more acidic the substance is. . The higher the number on the scale, the more basic, or alkaline, the substance is. . Substances that are extremely acidic or basic tend to be corrosive, or burn-causing. . The scale is logarithmic, meaning that it is based on tens (like the Richter scale). Thus, a substance with a pH of 4 (like coffee) is 10 times more acidic than a substance with a pH of 5 (like a banana). . Now here is where it gets tricky and confusing. When evaluating if a food is alkaline or acidic, or good or bad for your body, we don’t care with the food does OUTSIDE your body... All we care about is what that food does INSIDE your body! . However, when buying, it’s so important to become a label reader and look for what’s in the ingredients. . The two biggest ones you need to avoid are Carrageenan and Cane Sugar, amongst others you see in this list. . People always ask me which brand I recommend, and it’s a tough question to answer because most companies will have nut milks WITH these ingredients, and others WITHOUT! . I want to make sure you are listening to your body throughout this process, giving it what it’s asking for. . . Most of the time, if you are eating three meals a day, loaded with healthy fats, a big green salad with tons of alkaline goodies, moderate protein, and some steamed or sautéed greens, you’ll likely be satiated enough that you won’t feel that urge to snack between meals. . . But if you’re hungry, I don’t want you to starve and not have a snack because of the information I just told you. . . However, please be sure you are truly hungry and not eating emotionally, as grazing will stimulate INSULIN, which makes you store FAT and create inflammation. . If you find you’re hungry between meals, do the following: . 1. Drink a tall glass of room tempera- ture water. Supercharge that water with lemon, Alkamind Daily Greens, or Daily Minerals. Do this and then wait fifteen minutes and re-assess. If you are still hungry, move to step two. . 2. Take a brisk walk for fifteen minutes. . The thing is, we are all emotional eaters to some extent.
