I do a lot of things alone. It's always felt easier. I always get my way 🙄, don't have to coordinate, I keep my independence and if I have an 'off' day when all I want is to curl up in a ball and sleep in till noon, there is no-one to judge me. When I want to get up at 4am and go for the Summit, there's no one to stop me.
But...as I've gotten older, I realized that this is a very narrow view. It's easier, yes. But you lose out on so much. You lose on comraderie, on what you can achieve only when joining forces 👭, on alpine sunrises 🌄 and on summit high-fives ✋. Sometimes marching together to the beat of a common drum will give you so much more than going it alone (and help keep you alive). This is a hard thing for a lone wolf like me to accept, but it's why I love climbing so much: because it is so much more powerful with a partner.
I was first introduced to these lessons by @mikehornexplorer
and the YEPs I met. Yes, it was one of the more physically and mentally challenging experiences (YOU try waking up at 5am to do hill sprints and pull 80kilo tires and all on a regimen of sleep deprivation), however it taught me that I was part of a whole. I had to play well with others or else I'd never make it. Thank you Mike and the others, you taught me lifelong lessons that stubborn independent me really needed to learn. 📸 @sharomovdmitry #brotherhoodoftherope #exploretheworld #roamtheplanet #Nat_Explores

Kayaking in the caves of Croatia🛶😍
One of the most unique natural phenomena in the world, the Blue Cave on island Bisevo in Croatia will be a highlight of your holiday. With its silvery-blue color, created by light refraction of sunlight entering through a crack in the stone, it leaves nobody indifferent.

What a crazy world we live in where, on Wednesday night, you have to decide on a Friday flight between a ski trip in Switzerland or having a guys' hiking weekend in your true second home, Kosovo. I'm drawn to this place in ways that are hard for me to explain. In part perhaps, it's just the attitude of making do with what you have. For instance, trying to make this photo work by putting my camera on a slanted piece of snow covered dirt. Or having to do a bit of hitchhiking back into town because it was too cold, dark and dangerous to walk alongside the windy road along the frozen lake.
Anyway, more snaps from the weekend to come!
To the girl that could actually get me out of bed, dressed and put on makeup on a work night! Only for you @whiiitwhiiit
! Thank you for being born so we could celebrate the amazing woman and friend you are to so many people!! I love you so much! You truly bless me and enrich my life! Happy 21st birthday! 😉 🎉
Looking back at my trips from last year, it’s hard to pinpoint only one to be classified as my favorite; everyone is special and unique in its own way. But... I guess I’m a sucker for those pastel sunrises, and for adventuring solo. I have a lot of cool trips planned in the coming months, pushing myself out of my comfort zone, including completing the Trinity Alps High Route, something I’ve been drooling over for the last few years, and I’m pretty confident we have the right crew to complete it!! 2019, please be good to me, and be ready for me!

Field to fork...closing out IL season right!
Hard to do a dry January when we just can’t seem to get enough wine... glass bay. 10 points for whoever can guess who wrote this caption 😆🤓
“My feet is tired but my soul is rested.” I’ve long adored this quote attributed to Rosa Parks. And some days I find myself needing to borrow her hope, her indignation, her courage and her conviction that we can do so much better. ✨
So whether your feet are freshly pedicured or a little dusty and unkempt like mine, I hope you let them carry you to places where the “yes” you say is deep, sorrowful, and the best yes you can find. 👣
Just a man 'miring his wilderness home. Ok but story time: this was our first time sleeping in this particular super duper lightweight tent. In the middle of the night, it started seeming eerily like a large animal (or worse, a human😱) was patting or hitting our tent in random places repeatedly. We were outside an hour prior taking astro photos and there hadn't been any wind, so it was confusing and hard to explain what was causing it. I was so scared my body was violently and uncontrollably shaking 😅 Somehow, Jake harnessed some superhuman bravery and went outside to check it out. He didn't find anything although it paused while he was outside of the tent with the door open (the door being open must've affected how the light wind was impacting it or something) and so I tell him that he not only saved my life when he pulled me back up after I fell off a ridge trail the following morning, but also when he chased away the wind monsters in the middle of the night. 😄😄 If anyone has any tips for adjusting to sleeping in backpacking tent and actually getting a solid rest, send them my way! I definitely plan to do more backpacking this year :D
loving these roadside views 🌳⛰
Don’t let her cute face fool ya, she just ate my burrito (tinfoil and all) behind my back.
