Progress❤️ Today I woke up in the best mood! Super excited to see how the day would unfold. Well, it didn’t go as expected. I had a light day, so I was excited to run some errands and get caught up “stuff” that I hadn’t been able to tend to. Instead I’m stuck at home waiting for the repair man to come fix a used washer I bought off of Offer Up. Just bought it 2 months ago. It only came with a 30 day warranty. 🤦🏼♀️ It’ll probably cost me in repairs what I paid for it, but what ya gonna do. Shit happens. Guess I’ll utilize this time to relax and catch up on some more reading. #10yearchallenge #adulting #finally #shithappens

I am so mad at myself that I pretty much fell off the wagon in 2018, and barely scratched the surface of getting rid of my debt. I made promises to myself that I didn’t commit to. I feel so ashamed. As I heard from #DaveRamsey

When my hair was shorter and did a shaggy bang thing. When I was more in the moment of things and learning not to overthink. When I was upstate, New York more often because I had a great lover who wanted to see much more of the state just like every set of lovers. When I was broken but hiding it well under my sunglasses and cigarette smoke. When I no longer was the odd one in the room. When I was shorter and drinking 5 cups of coffee just to keep up. > soap (so I can avoid using the hotel’s tiny soap)
> peppermint oil (I use this as an replacement for gum. Works a treat and really freshens my stinky ass breath!)
> concealer (comes in a reusable/recyclable tin)
> makeup (I honestly don’t wear makeup often, maybe once a month, but the foundation pictured is actually new. I’ve had a hard time trying to find one that was eco and recyclable AND matched my yellow undertone! Most I’ve found, have catered for a pink undertone. So, please eco makeup companies, have some more makeup tones for us! 😊)
> reusable square cloths (to remove makeup. I just made it with an old towel)
> jojoba oil
> homemade face lotion (in a repurposed tiny jar)
> homemade lip balm
> homemade body butter (in a repurposed jar)
> sunscreen (in recyclable/reusable tin)
> bamboo comb (even though I will probably NOT brush my hair!)
> aspirin (I’m prone to headaches and migraines. I get this from my mother!)

This will be the first plane trip I’ll be taking by myself! I’ve always travelled with a friend, my partner or my family. So, now I feel all adult and perhaps this is what #adulting
So I bought my first house the other day. I’m super excited to take this next step. #adulting
❌Today, I had zero motivation❌
I wanted to do absolutely nothing. I had no energy to get up and out of bed, but I had to because #adulting
and having a list of things to do.
So on I went to my Dr. appointment, then went straight to the gym. I sat in the parking lot for a good 15 minutes before going inside. I fought with myself. Went back and forth in my head of reasons why I should and shouldn't go inside. ◼️"If I skip today, then what's the big deal? I don't want to be here anyway. ◼️"If I don't exercise now, I won't do it later and I'm already here so might as well." It took every fiber of my being to get my ass out of my car and into the gym. I had no plan other than to train legs. No motivation + no set plan= a shitty workout for me.
I always go in with a plan and set routine I make up. When I don't, I am all over the place and put pressure on myself for not doing the best I could.
What I now realize is that I actually did the best I could. I physically went to the gym, moved my body, and broke a good sweat. So why should I be disappointed in myself? It may not have been the best workout, BUT at least I got myself there and did SOMETHING.
There are going to be days, even weeks where you are not motivated to workout. I still struggle, but what gets me through it is just turning off those negative thoughts in my head and doing something. Sure, you need to put in good effort to see a change, but what's most important is staying consistent.
Create that habit of just doing the damn thing rather than not doing it at all.
Stop beating yourself up for not being perfect.
Have some patience and give yourself some grace on those days where you feel unmotivated.✨
Well, after 5 years of studying at uni and 2 years of training in an amazing law firm, I can now finally say that I am officially a qualified SOLICITOR! 👩🏽🎓🎉 so happy and pleased to have finally made it, so I’m spending tonight celebrating by doing what I do best ... eating lots of food and drinking lots of gin 🥂❤️ #qualified #solicitor #adulting #ellewoods

Anyway it's a fun read with lots of good, useful information. And if you're wondering (like I was) what makes Brown qualified to write such a thing, know that she is a journalist and like any good journalist she has compiled info for this book from many reliable sources, as well as from personal experience, and gives it a humourus, personal touch (complete with doodles). My philosophy for "self-help" or self improvement type things such as this book has become: If I take even one thing from this and make a meaningful change or begin a new *good* habit, etc. then I'll consider the whole thing worth my time. And that has helped me feel better than thinking I need to do every 468 steps to feel good about myself. Baby steps people, but always keeping work on the You you want to be.

did you know there’s more than one kind of savings? or that it’s important to have more than one account (if possible) & to look beyond your traditional bank’s offerings for the highest #interestrate
a typical bank’s savings account tends to offer the lowest interest possible, for example mine is .01% (... so basically nothing cuz them funds are #low
😢). there are a lot of online only options that offer rates above 2% + minimal fees & minimums ( & sometimes less access to the cash so it’s harder to spend & compounds for longer )
