One week till Christmassssssss and it seems all the holiday parties + cold weather is hitting some of us HARD. Here’s 3 easy tips to keep your immune system STRONG throughout this final last push until you’re off the clock and on the cranberry sauce instead:
1. CHAGA TEA. Chaga helps to regulate the production of cytokines - proteins that play a vital role in stimulating white blood cells, which are the immune system's first line of defence against a range of infections and even life-threatening illnesses. Go big or go home - I drink about a litre of strong chaga tea daily (it’s easy if you use it as your base for EVERYTHING - from smoothies to tea and even as a broth base!)
2. BROTH - Bone broth is best, which contains arginine (an essential for optimal immune system functioning, as well as for aiding the liver), glutamine (boosts your metabolism), and glycine (helps you sleep!). For my veggie-based friends, you can opt for a vegetarian broth (celery, onions, carrots & lots of fresh herbs) and supplement with extra vitamin C which is the precursor to collagen.
3. ADAPTOGENS - Some of my favourite adaptogenic herbs for boosting your immune system include astragalus, reishi, and turkey tail. You can get them as teas, powders, supplements, tinctures or even sprays. Pick one or more and take multiple times throughout the day for best results. I do a reishi tea mid-day and it helps bring me back to a state of zen whilst maintaining alertness and focus.
Hope these tips are useful, and I’m curious to hear your own favourite ways for keeping well over the holidays - feel free to share in the comments. Wishing you all the BEST week ever ever ever 💚💛🧡💛💚
