Jungle Rot - S/T 2018 LP. I picked up JR's most recent LP along with their first "Skin the Living". Beefing up my death metal collection, I've been into into death as long as hardcore but prefer the latter of course so my record collection is lacking. Jungle Rot have refined their sound and style since the beginning, resulting in this very solid album. Terrible Certainty is my favorite track on this one, it's a fucking ripper. Now I just have to eventually pick up their other 8 albums, these guys are busy!
Candy - Candy Says EP. And now competing for best record cover of all time is CANDY! These guys are a real fucking oddity but holy fuck can they rock! I'm not even going to attempt to explain their complicated, genre transcending sound, but I assure you they are well worthy of your money. Also check out their newest release "Good To Feel" which has hobos butt fucking behind a flaming car on the cover....true genius. It's actually heavier than this ep (a bit). My only gripe with Candy is their merch, for such a great band their t-shirts really suck. Slap this album cover on a shirt, I'll buy one! Realize your full potential boys, people like butt fucking on their shirts.
Jungle Rot - Skin the Living LP. Finally got my records from Victory that I ordered at the end of November. FYI - sometimes they use a bulk shipping service that ships out of Malmo, Sweden that they don't want you to know about because it literally takes months for you to get your shit....but it's cheap. Anyway, enough about that, I desperately need to improve my death metal collection that's both pathetic yet impressive... quality over quantity I guess. Jungle Rot get at least 3 devil horns, it's a balanced mix death metal with a hardcore or thrash dessert topping that's both pleasing and horrific. Skin the Living is their first album and it definitely scratches my unhealthy Rambo itch. Viva la Gore...

Corpus Vile - What Does It Take LP. These guys were a lesser known hardcore/thrash band from here in Winnipeg in the late 80s on Fringe Product. They sound a bit like Sudden Impact but way more metal. Definitely sound like late 80s thrash. New & still sealed! Funny story, I bought this off eBay for cheap from a guy my brother had been buying rare Fringe cassettes from. Turns out it was from Ben himself, owner of Fringe Product & Toronto's Record Peddler (RIP)...stilling kicking, still selling records! Emailed him to see what he had left but he would have none of that intrusion from some country hillbilly like me. So...you know that Dayglo Abortions album "Two Dogs Fucking"? "Ben Gets Off" is about him...he's too busy to answer emails cause He's Been STROKIN'. Ha, I'm a loser.
Bolt Thrower - ...For Victory LP. It's tough to pinpoint a favorite genre band but I can easily say Bolt Thrower is right near the fucking top. Endless tasty riffs, unmatched by most anyone. "For Victory" is my second favorite BT album, the first is totally "Mercenary". I thought someone slipped me viagra the first time I heard it. Anyway, all my Bolt Thrower is on CD and I've been trying to make headway on a vinyl conversion. I hope I blow up my old 70's speakers this weekend taking me and half the block in a firey death metal blast. I would settle for tank running over me as a consolation prize...HAIL BOLT THROWER!
Bathym were an early death metal band from Pennsylvania that formed in 1989. They released three demos and this 7” on Thrash Records before breaking up in 1992. Three of their members went on to Sathanas. “Demonic Force” is two songs of thrashy, mid-paced death metal with loads of double bass and screeched vocals that sound almost exactly like Nate from Black Market Fetus and Traffic Death. The drummer does tons of tom rolls throughout. Once I noticed how often he did it, it was all I could focus on. There’s tons of action on the floor tom, especially, which really stands out. He beats that thing like it owes him money. One of my favorite things about this 7” is how loud the farty bass is in the mix. I’ve listened to this thing a ton since getting it a few years back. Strangely, I’ve never gotten around to checking out Sathanas. #bathym#sathanas#demonicforce#thrashrecords#deathmetal#oldschooldeathmetal#osdm#paultucker#vinylcollection
No Man's Slave - Siege Mentality EP. These guys REALLY want you to get the jist of their sound without hearing a note! Just a hint...if you think this going to be another Oasis style ripoff, you'd be quite incorrect. Dual male vocals, fast screamy hardcore & like 20 songs on 7". Refreshed to hear they aren't, in fact, an Infest clone. I'm a massive Infest fan but that's their thing and they have plenty of half assed clones. No Man's Slave have a depth and sound of their own although reminiscent of bands from the 90's era blasting out hardcore with the occasional Power Violence touch. Good solid record from "Give Praise". #hardcore#punk#records#punkrecords#hardcorerecords#vinyljunkie#thrash#thrashrecords#nomansslave#givepraiserecords
